If Obi ruins the country nko, will you wait?
The likelihood of that is low.

Obi is who we thought Buhari was in 2015.
The difference is that Obi has actually walked the talk as a governor.

Just by drastically reducing the stealing and the wastage of public funds and diverting it to critical areas of need is enough to leave Nigeria better than he met it.
Releasing the economy from the stranglehold that Buhari has placed on it is also another low hanging fruit that would not take much effort to accomplish.

Without even doing much, obi would leave Nigeria better than he met it.

Someone that is wasting over 40% of his salary on transport fare to work, because of agberos on the road is telling Peter obi to wait for the next 8yrs so that tinubu can govern first. grin

Is that not insanity?

Without even doing much, obi would leave Nigeria better than he met it.

I don't know how old you're. I don't usually engage youths of the so-called indomie generation. I believe many of them aren't sufficiently educated enough to know their left from right as far as the politics of this country is concerned. But I will give you the benefit of doubt.

Now to the points you raised. I will categorically tell you that Buhari's service records showed that he was more frugal and patriotic than Obi as a public official. May be you don't know. Buhari was once a GOC in the Army, state governor (albeit in the military era), minister of petroleum and head of state. Yet, he was never linked with any financial scandal unlike his colleagues and friends in the Army. While his mates allocated oil blocks and import licences to themselves, he remained relatively without blemish.

In fact, the late Gani Fawehinmi campaigned for Buhari in 2007. That should tell you the kind of person Buhari was. Alas! His tenure as a civilian president ended up as a monumental disaster based on his tendency to favour his ethnic group (the Fulanis) and his clannish disposition. Buhari failed because his inner circle of friends were his kinsmen and associates (the cabal) who are exercising power for their own selfish interest. Don't forget that it was Buhari who led the Fulani herdsmen to protest against farmers in Oyo State during the tenure of Lam Adesina.

In essence, Buhari failed not because he wasnt tested. He had been tested as a Military Governor, Minister of Petroleum, as a Military Head of State, and Chairman of PTF. In PTF, Buhari as the Chairman used a less expensive private car than the Secretary Chief Tayo Akpata. Buhari failed as the current Nigerian president for so many reasons, but not because he is personally corrupt. We can see that his administration has given Nigeria more infrastructural facelift than previous administrations despite the dwindling foreign exchange earnings. So, saying Obi is like Buhari isn't a guarantee that he will be able to handle Nigeria. Actually, there are some reasons to believe that Obi and Buhari aren't different.

1. One thing we knew about Buhari was that he was more or less a northern irredentist and Fulani supremacist. He was more beholden to the interests of his people in Northern Nigeria. The same thing can be said about Obi who is more beholden to Igbo interests.

Everything about Obi shows that he is a Buhari-like disaster waiting to happen to Nigeria. First of all, Obi's people are more or less nomads (like Fulanis) scattered across Nigeria. They are the ethnic group who are more vociferous in saying that Lagos is no man's land. The Fulanis will also tell you they could settle anywhere they like in the country. The only difference is that Fulanis live in the forest, while Igbos live in towns and cities. I will say categorically that an Obi presidency is going to exacerbate these ludicrous claims by Igbos and we will see them becoming more daring. For instance, it took the presidency of Aguiyi Ironsi less than 6 months to precipitate a civil war in Nigeria. Obi's presidency won't be better as it's coming on the heels of the Ipob agitation with echoes of armed clashes between the Igbo agitators and the armed forces.

Moreover, Obi was the governor who campaigned against Chris Ngige of the ACN that Igbos shouldn't vote for the party of Awolowo people. He also claimed that Fashola was deporting Igbos from Lagos in the aftermath of the relocation of some mentally-challenged people back to their respective states. In view of these antecedents which portray Obi as an ethnic champion, Nigeria will be better off, if such a fellow isn't allowed into Aso Rock. Otherwise, we should be preparing for a civil war. Verdict: Obi is Igbo project.

2. Buhari is frugal, but he has never been a visionary. Buhari cancelled the Lagos Metro Train project as the military head of state with the excuse that it was too expensive. Today, the state is spending billions of dollars to relaunch the same project. Similarly, Obi has no record of great projects that would identify him as a visionary who could take Nigeria to greater heights. He is more of a minimalist who uses sophistry to confuse the masses. Obi didn't even bother to give his state Anambra any masterplan. Besides, his successors told us that Obi's investments are now worth less than nothing. Verdict: Obi isn't a visionary and cannot take Nigeria to a greater height.

3. Just like Buhari and others, Obi belongs to the old cadre which some folks won't want to acknowledge. He became governor on the platform of APGA by riding on the popularity of Ojukwu. He even vowed publicly not to leave the party. After the demise of Ojukwu, Obi abandoned his vow and joined the PDP. He was part of the economic council during the Goodluck Jonathan's administration. May I remind you that Nigeria collected more revenues in the said period than at any other time in our history. Yet, the Goodluck administration had practically nothing to show for the huge revenues. In Anambra, Peter Obi could only boast of a few worthwhile projects in the educational and health sectors. He also boasts of leaving money for his successor despite the fact that the state faced huge problems of erosion and lacked basic amenities. Under Obi, doctors were on strike for 13 months. Under Obi, the state university was on strike for 8 months. Verdict: Obi is more of the same. He could abandon his campaign promises.

4. Just like Buhari of old, Obi has no known business and political associate outside of his ethnic group. I have asked several of his followers one question and they couldn't answer it. Mention Hausa and Yoruba friends of Obi before he joined politics.

In a multi-cultural society like ours, any presidential candidate who cannot boast of at least 10 people in his/her inner circle of friends outside his/her ethnic group is a disaster waiting to happen. They're likely to place the interests of their ethnic group above national interests. This is one reason Buhari couldn't tame the Fulani herdsmen.

Verdict: Obi is an Igbo version of Buhari.

May God bless you in billions. You are in the same school of thought with me. The younger ones know nothing other than nzogbu nzogbu methodology. They have no access to facts of history. I completely agree with your dissection of Buhari and Obi. Though I voted Buhari, but I wouldn’t have voted anyone else because the rest of them were fantastically corrupt. The Archilles Heel of Buhari, as you said, is his nepotism. And Obi has the same tendency. To remind you of the events before Fashola took his decision on relocating destitute, it was Obi who started the process by removing non-indigenes from Anambra civil service, he relocated the non-indigenes who were jobless to Akwa ibom and Kaduna. He sent Yoruba to Asaba. The markets got burnt and Obi refused to re-allocate newly built ones back to the non-indigenes who owned them initially. After doing those things, Fashola felt he could do the same too. But the Igbos including Obi knew this action would hit them harder than what Obi did. Fashola was stopped by Tinubu and other southwest leaders.
This is the Obi that wants to rule Nigeria. Obi made some ethnocentric quotes during the fire incidents at the markets. The people from the north cannot forget these events. That is why Obi is finding it hard to campaign in the north.

Omo... Obi went to use Akure town-hall compound for Labour party rally. It's like organizing a Presidential rally in an event center... Wow. No wonder they pack people full only one angle. But, why not use Democracy Park or the stadium, I believe that places are wider. He visited recently crowned Oba Olu Falae, a 3rd class Oba & is Chiefs, not the Deji of Akure or the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers... OP, please, get your fats right.
