The BBC's Peter Okwoche spoke to INEC's chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu and asked him questions about rumours that the elections will be postponed due to violence in parts of the country, transmission of election results, irregularities in the voters register, allegations of being partial, etc. Here are his answers Peter Okwoche: How are preparations right now? https://twitter.com/BBCAfrica/status/1617817357509922819 3 Likes 1 Share

After this election we are going to be aware of certain things 1)the problem of Nigeria is tribalism and not all about religion but mostly tribalism And hausas are not really tribalistic the way we thought But the yorubas are more tribalistic Because as at the time Buhari was sick and travelling for medical attention we all was clamouring for him to hand over to a healthy and vibrant Osinbajo. We regretted our action of being stupid to elect a sick old man But now we have a vibrant and healthy Peter obi contesting but the yorubas because of tribalism wants us to install tinubu again knowing fully well that the world will mock us The worse part of it is that the pain and memory of the incessant travel for medical check up by Buhari is still very fresh in our mind.not like it happened 20 years ago. It just happened yesterday 32 Likes 3 Shares |

I expect the INEC chair to give implementable plans and policies on how his regime wants to better the Nigerian electoral and democratic journey then solicit for their international community support to attain them. After all the relevant world bodies would be sending election observers here to cover the general elections. 3 Likes |

Simple. Just tell BBC that based on facts on ground, there's no need for an election in Nigeria. His Excellency, Peter Oluwadare Ciroma Obi stands elected as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come February 2023!! 40 Likes 3 Shares

Please, no time for big grammar or lofty words. The forthcoming election is a decisive one and INEC has a very big role to play. You have been funded to carry out transparent and credible elections. Now is time for action! 2 Likes 1 Share |

The ruling party is allegedly harvesting VIN, but INEC says there's nothing to worry about, that it's useless to them. How come INEC wants to run an election when 1/4 of the registered voters are back to school after the long ASUU during which they registered to vote? INEC should be neutral and ensure a smooth, fair, and credible election. We must change the status quo, and it's not bargainable. Don't do a Jega on us, the country has suffered enough. Bad leaders are a recipe for disaster. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Please let's support his excellency Mr Peter obi for the president of federal Republic of Nigeria, we are tired of those thief's now, Without a tribalism and nepotism any sane Nigerian know it's only someone like Peter obi that can now rescue Nigeria from total collapsing, but seriously some ethnic bigot people will just still prefer to hav their own man at the affairs of the country either he is capable or not than to go for what could have been the best solution to all nigerian's current problems, #ObiDatti2023 is certain 8 Likes 1 Share |
