The current Ukrainian war was set in motion by the Russians as far back as 2009. The gas reserves is part of Russia's mission. But the main issues involving Donbass and Luhansk was planned and carefully crafted by FSB operatives. They paid some separatists to start campaigning for independence, then brought in ex-Russian forces to forment more trouble during and after the 2014 maiden issues. The whole scenario is purely a land grab war with a false excuse of NATO invasion and nazism. Unfortunately, this war will lead to the massive development of other green sources of energy, other than oil and gas. This is already a loss to Russia's European market.

Western aid that came after the Russians had lost millions of men in the fighting? Abeg talk another thing. You don't even know that's one of the reasons for the enmity between the US and Russia. The US came when the war was almost ending, used their air force to kill off the Germans, and claimed victory and rewrote history to their advantage, saying they're the ones who defeated the Germans.

Russian side has a strategy of flattening an area with heavy weapons before going in with infantry. So they have a low casualty rate unlike what the media is reporting.

Secondary, Ukraine is trying to reserve her elite fighting squads for the spring iffensive they are planning with the newly donated tanks. That's why they are sending new forced conscripts to Bakhmut. These inexperienced squad are often expecting the Russian from the front, while the battle hardened wagner troops keep them busy, while making moves to flank and sorround them. Hence the heavy casualty on Ukrainian side which is not being reported in the media.
