Wrong...this is the cause of the war. Russia wants to steal resources from Ukraine.
Hahahahahahhahahsahshahahah....you're believing rubbish. Russia has the largest natural gas reserves in the world. They export to even Europe, and you think they're fighting this war for a small sliver of Ukraine?

Let me advise you, leave these posts from Americans. You're getting info from people who think Africa is a country🤣🤣🤣🤣

So what happened to the over 4,000 Soviet era tanks Ukraine had before the war or their own T80s or the donated T-72s(over 200) from Slovakia and the rest last year?

So it's a few, slightly over 100 western tanks that will come in batches with the earliest coming in 4months time that will turn the tide of the war?

Some of you are too lazy to read but too quick to talk

Lets not forget it took around 20 Himars to stall the Russian advance last summer. Where are the Russian tanks by the way? Now instead of armored breakthroughs they switched to desperate WW2 human wave tactics. And while having 3000 T80 in storage the Russian Army is now reactivating T62 without thermal imagers. Russia has always maintained a paper tiger army. Not to talk about about their Air Force and Navy.

Some takes on Wagner Group's 'human wave' tactics
1/ The Wagner Group's 'human wave' attacks, which have left the area around Bakhmut and Soledar strewn with the bodies of dead Wagner fighters, have been described in detail by a Russian source. It explains the brutal calculations behind Wagner's seemingly suicidal tactics.

2/ The 'Russian Criminal' website, which is linked to the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel, reports what a source – likely within Wagner – has told it about the mercenary group's approach to using recruited convicts to attack Soledar, sustaining huge casualties along the way.

3/ "The most experienced and well-prepared group of stormtroopers comes first, with excellent equipment. It's comprised of eight men, each with a 'Bumblebee' [possibly meaning an RPO-A Shmel thermobaric rocket launcher, effective against fortified positions].

4/ "Whatever happens, the group must reach the firing line. "Whatever happens" is not a turn of phrase, but a task, the failure to complete which will end in execution [by Wagner], regardless of any [mitigating] factors.

5/ "Once fire contact has been made [with the enemy], the group digs into positions. Digging in is taught as meticulously as combat operations, so by military standards, digging in is almost instantaneous and very effective.

6/ "The area the group has reached is marked (a rag on a tree or something similar). Even if the group is demolished to zero, the next one already realises where the previous one has reached. The main task is to make contact, dig in and transfer positional data to the artillery.

7/ "Artillery can fire from an hour to several hours. And here is the first cause of conflict with the [Russian] army: if there are not enough shells, instead of a successful attack you get hopeless meat from the stormtroopers.

8/ "The first group is followed by the second, also eight men, but with much lighter equipment. Their task is to jump into the positions as soon as the artillery shells finish their work.

9/ "Sometimes there is an order not to wait for the shelling to end – the 'Musicians' are so disciplined that they will go anyway, because they stand a fighting chance of surviving.

10/ "Nowadays there are not enough shells and because of that the first groups hardly survive – the main blow is coming at them and even training does not solve all the problems there.

11/ "Even before, losses in the first group were inevitable, but now the survivability of groups as a whole has fallen to critical values. And to replace them with just anyone increases costs even more, and the influx of people has now collapsed.

12/ "Groups of 8 people go in waves - usually 4 waves are prepared for the attack. But there have been cases in Soledar where it took 14 waves to take one area. Of course there were survivors, but the casualties were a hundred or more. That's for one section.

13/ "Groups have drone operators to lead the whole group into position to clear the area. At the same time, the lightly wounded do not slouch and do not lie down – for that, they could shoot you in the legs and leave behind.

14/ "This tactic is the only possible way to achieve results and advance in such conditions. The line of defense in Soledar has been cleverly constructed for years, the army command has neither the possibility nor the desire to advance there.

15/ "That's basically why the task was handed to Wagner. From the outside, it may look unreasonable to take such a high casualty rate deliberately, but try to look at it in a different way: even 4 waves of 8 men – that is 32 men killed at the worst.

16/ "Throw in even a regiment – they will lose much more and even they will fail to cope with the task. In percentage terms they will lose less, but in absolute numbers, more. Therefore losses of over 50% for an attack are not bad, if there is a result.

17/ "There is much less manpower for assault groups now, shells are also in short supply. And if the artillery is suppressed, then no one will call the stormtroopers back anyway, they just mop up without cover.

18/ "If there are more groups in reserve, you can send in 5, and 6, and 7 waves, just to finish the result. This is not an army, here it is better to have more initiative than to underdo it.

19/ "The 'Musicians' have their own training – with a crazy intensity, if you are without experience – but they teach a very narrow range of tasks.

20/ "And the newcomers from the penal colonies are very well disciplined: first they are shown video executions, then very soon they encounter their first real examples, and then they get used to such discipline completely.

21/ "Another plus from this [in contrast to the Russian army] is that it is not the practice in Wagner to reassign those [qualified as] artillery gunners to the stormtroopers, unless as punishment. Good gunners are also worth their weight in gold.

22/ "The army will not be able to replace Wagner in hot areas, this is not even considered. In modern warfare, the number of soldiers is not an indicator at all. But, again, the question remains open – what to do about the shortage of shells (120 and 80 mm)?

23/ "There is a concept of "efficiency relative to the situation", and so this efficiency can be high, but if the situation is deadlocked, then the main issue is still not resolved.

24/ "Exchanging people for territory is beneficial when the territory is small and people in reserve are plentiful. If, on the other hand, you have to chop for every metre and people have become scarce, problems begin to arise.

25/ "As a result, losses are growing and progress slows down. The recruitment of convicts at first gave a full-flowing river of people, now they are gone. At the beginning of the war there was talk of Syrian mercenaries, some even came. But they are not fit for this war.

26/ "Among the 'Musicians' they say aloud that "we're about to put the squeeze on and take everything here." But among themselves, everyone expects that we will be removed from the assault on a number of directions.

27/ "And even if a large mobilisation begins right tomorrow, it will not be possible to immediately recruit refuseniks in the required numbers, but they still need to be run in, brought to the desired condition, …

28/ "because otherwise it will not even be possible to spend them effectively. It takes time, it takes a lot of shells. And we have neither one nor the other."

The concept of "winning the war" is subjective. Russia is not looking to "take over Ukraine" as western media make it seem. Russia is already the biggest country on earth. Russia is reserving her real figthing force for a most probable engagement with Nato. Thats why they are playing chicken with ukraine. That story of zombie waves is not true, cause Russian will avoid casulth at any cost. The US inteligence has already calculate that a second wave of recruitment in Russia will make putin politically unstable. Putin knows the risks. Ukraine is being encouraged to blow down the Russian figthing force at the cost of enormous casualty of new conscripts in Bahkmut. Ultimately zelensky is also standing the same risk. If his spring offensive is not a major success, and he ramps up another batch of forced conscription, his authority will be challenged by growing dissent. Especially after his recent crack down on dissenting Government officials. Russia is also waiting for Ukrainian uprising against Zelensky. At the moment, a lot of conscripts just get to the Bakhmut and surrender, rather than die at the so called Meat Grinder.

Western aid that came after the Russians had lost millions of men in the fighting? Abeg talk another thing. You don't even know that's one of the reasons for the enmity between the US and Russia. The US came when the war was almost ending, used their air force to kill off the Germans, and claimed victory and rewrote history to their advantage, saying they're the ones who defeated the Germans.

This is how much of volumes of history written you brain can assimilate. I understand your plight but won't get myself bogged down with needless argument with you. Enjoy and wallow in your ignorance.

That was an asymmetrical warfare, which is pretty difficult to win in modern times, the US will most likely ace any conventional war with Ukraine and not make heavy work of it like the ruskies are doing at the moment

You need to realise that this is a conventional war between two countries, not that one US has been fighting with goat herders for 20 years.

The last part of your sentence prove you're ignorant
The fact that it's a conventional war should make the Russians put up a better performance given the arsenal at their disposal, the US struggled and will indeed struggling in any future asymmetric warfare with 'goat herders', but contrast the Russian performance with that of the US in it's last conventional war in Iraq, that was an 'A' performance, though they struggled with the subsequent asymmetric aftermath

A 🇺🇦 Ukrainian soldier who recently had a run-in with a group of 🇷🇺 Russia's Wagner PMC mercenaries said the fighters are "tireless" and "didn't stop coming" during a battle in Bakhmut, Ukraine.

"We were fighting for about 10 hours in a row. And it wasn't like just waves - it was uninterrupted. So it was just like they didn't stop coming," the soldier, named Andriy, told CNN of fighting troops from the Wagner Group, a private military contractor linked to the Kremlin that consists of mercenaries and former prisoners.

He said the fight was between 200 Ukrainian soldiers and about 200 Wagner troops and described it as a "frightening and surreal experience."

Andriy detailed the ruthless nature of these fighters, comparing the battle to something out of a "zombie movie."

"They're climbing above the corpse of their friends, stepping on them like zombies," he told CNN. He even suggested that the Wagner troops might be "getting some drugs before the attack."

Andriy said their machine gunner was "almost going crazy" because he knew he was shooting at and hitting his targets, but none of the troops he hit were falling.

"He said, 'I know I shot him, but he doesn't fall,'" Andriy told CNN. "And then after some time, when he maybe bleeds out, so he just falls down."

The soldier said his group's AK-47 rifles became so hot from constantly firing at the Wagner troops that they had to keep switching out guns.

He described Wagner's attack method to CNN, saying that first, they send a group of attackers - mainly made up of recruits fresh from Russian prisons. At that point, they begin "digging into position," Andriy said.

A second group then advances to claim more land "step by step," moving forward and into position, Andriy recalled. As Wagner loses more troops and groups are exhausted, they send more as an attempt to hold their spot on the battlefield.

Eventually, Andriy's group was surrounded. "We didn't expect them to come from there," he told CNN.

"We were shooting until the last bullet, so we threw all the grenades we had and left only me and a few guys. We were helpless in that situation," he told CNN.

Tens of thousands of Wagner fighters have joined in Russia's war efforts to capture Bakhmut, where intense fighting has raged for months. Among the group's fighters are recruited prisoners who have been sent to the front lines, sometimes alongside newly mobilized Russian troops and used to absorb heavy Ukrainian fire.

Oga Linus!

200 Ukrainian army against what

Against 200 Wagner fighters?

Keep fooling around.

Even Russian Media admits they can only match Ukrainians by using 200 Russians against 20 Ukrainians

The war USA fought in Vietnam and Afghanistan were largely asymmetric and no army can be confident of victory in such a war these days, the war Russia is engaged in with Ukraine is conventional, the least expected of them is a quick victory within two to three months before engaging in the possibility of asymmetric war with the resistance

Those Soviet tanks are not good for offensives and yes a few strategic tanks can deliver results. Offensives requires lots of sophistication unlike defense. The Soviet tanks are not precise and cannot manuvere, most Russian weapons are not precise hence they require lots of artillery (Russia shots about 15,000 artilleries per day) hence not sustainable

Russian soldiers can even fight in winter temperature of -30 degrees Centigrade.
Russian military is a carryover of the old Soviet Union armed forces with training to withstand aggression from America and rest of NATO. Ukrainian military was formed just after the fall of the old Soviet Union.
we are in winter and we are still waiting for the Russian magic, presently Iran and North Korea are the main supplier of Russian weapons. Look truth be told nobody likes a long WAR. If Russian has an ace up their sleeves they would have used it long ago, bombing civilians is just a crude way of fighting.

You need to watch the movie Stalingrad, or read “operation Barbarossa”

Hitler had the man and the resources, the soviets were outnumbered in men and resources but they never surrendered until they knocked down the gates or Berlin
Lies! Stalingrad was a miscalculation and wrong Intel, same mistake the Russians are about to commit in Ukraine. The reason American will continue to dominate for another Century is intelligence. Hitler thought Japan was going to attack the Soviet from the east and the Soviet had well trained soldiers stationed there (these guys have been training in the cold for years) however Japan was receiving too much blows from the Americans and couldn't carryout an attack on USSR. USSR took the gamble and recalled those soldiers to the west. The Germany had already shredded Stalingrad to rubbles only for the new soldiers to reinvigorate the USSR forces...mind you Ukrainians were part of the USSR that fought at Stalingrad and till date the Russians had the highest casualties and death in WWII
