If CBN attempt to forcefully stop the old naira by 10th, the action might lead to anarchy in the country as frustrated citizens are not ready to continue the suffering. This not party issue or this or that. The number of frustrated Nigerians right now has reason and the FG should put it into consideration and allow the old naira note to run side by side with the new note while CBN will can continue with the withdrawal policy etc.

The AGF is wasting his time. This matter don tie wrapper. Nyesom Wike is dragging Rivers state into the case by early next week with different set of prayers like arrest of the CBN Governor for contravening the CBN act, then the supreme court will have to shift the Feb 15 deadline because other states like Lagos, Jigawa, Cross River and many more grin will be lining up to join the suit with their own prayers. Before the Supreme court hears the substantive suit, Bola Tinubu the Jagaban would have been sworn in as the next President of Nigeria and Commander in chief of the armed forces.

Don’t vote for Ipob terrorist and religious bigot.

Religious bigot, really, Peter Obi? A religious bigot?
Then I wonder what I will call someone who is a Muslim and chose a Muslim as his running mate.
And then IPOB? Really? so, any politician from the north can be called Boko Haram?

Then you must include Buhari who refused to sack Isa Pantami when there was clear evidence that he supported the ideologies of Boko Haram cause he indirectly showed a soft spot for Boko Haram.

Funny people on this forum.

The dispute between different branches of the executive can be taken straight to the supreme court even in developed countries like America.

The Row vs Wade repeal

The Affirmative action repeal case still going on

If the action is deemed unconstitutional by the supreme court, it's reversed immediately.
and what is the question of law and/or fact that is in dispute in this case? undecided

As a Scientist and layman in Law, I ask;

1. If the Federal High Court is the court to hear monetary issues as some of the commentators have stated here, who do you appeal to when judgment is given? I guess the Appeal Court.

2. Now if the Appeal Court enters judgment, who do you appeal to if dissatisfied, I guess the Supreme Court.

3. So logically, the Supreme Court is actually supreme in ALL issues.

4. Now if a policy of the Federal Government through its agents is affecting the proper functioning of the states and has potential to lead to anarchy and break down of law and order, I assume the constitution allows the sub nations to challenge such disputed policy or program of the Federation directly at the almighty Supreme Court especially where speed is of utmost importance

5. Is it therefore not legal and sensible enough for Supreme Court to step in and assume jurisdiction since ultimately ALL cases have the potential of ending in the same Supreme Court no matter their origin. The Supreme Court can then interpret and direct further on the Law.

We don't need to abuse our Justices with accumulated experiences running into hundreds of years .

Everything I said in my post reechoed here.

Supreme Court has no jurisdiction over this case. If the plaintiffs were serious, they know that the right place to institute the case is at the High Court.

What the lawyers of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara have done is abuse of court process.

Why did the Supreme Court entertain the case when it's not within their jurisdiction. Are you implying that the Honourable Justices of the supreme court are not knowledgeable enough about constitutional provisions to know the cases to entertain and the ones to throw out?

Aren't the judiciary tasked with interpretation of the law

So it is hard to argue that the Supreme court has no jurisdiction over hearing a case that deals with the disputed interpretation of the law amongst the different branches of the Executive arm of government.

The Governors challenge the central bank that it has wrongly interpreted the law over the deadline set to stop the old Naira note as a legal tender, while the central bank in its opinion believe it has not wrongly interpreted the law.

It's only logical that the judiciary step in to rightfully interprete the law after hearing both sides of the argument.

The policy of introducing new naira note is very different from the Argument above.
...and the attorney general office said it is wrong for supreme court to even have power to hear the case. So u are saying Malami does not knw wat he's saying, or what's ur point pls?

An interim order last only for 7 days. The adjourned date of 15th February is for hearing of the motion on notice and not the substantive suit, which could either vacate the order made today or extend it. However , If we are to interpret the law strictly, Supreme court does not have the original jurisdiction to entertain a matter between AG States and CBN, that's an abuse of Court process.

The order will be extended.

Nigerians are the problems of ordinary Nigerians! Ordinarily, I don't care about this election but anything that'll give me more discomfort is what I don't want! At the end of the day, people will do anything to get the naira, including and especially selling their votes! What then will be achieved except untold hardship for the people?
