The British International Fellowships Programme offers researchers the chance to work for three years at a UK institution in order to create a workforce for research and innovation that is mobile and connected to the rest of the world.

Through the acquisition of international experience, the International Fellowships Programme assists excellent early career researchers in establishing independent research careers.

The International Fellowships Programme seeks to develop a mobile, internationally connected workforce in research and innovation while also attracting and keeping young talent in the UK. These are the objectives:

Bring in bright, early-career researchers from abroad to set up and carry out their research in the UK.
aiding international early career researchers to pursue excellent and original research areas.

Give international early-career researchers chances to learn and share new skills and information through education and professional development.
Through networking opportunities and the International Fellowships alumni program, long-lasting partnerships can be cultivated.

The candidate must fulfill the following requirements in order to be eligible:

possess a PhD or be nearing completion of one, as long as the degree will be earned prior to the Fellowship’s start date. Before any Fellowship award is verified, the PhD award must first be confirmed.
have a maximum of seven years of active, full-time postdoctoral experience at the time of application (including teaching experience and/or time spent in industry, but excluding career pauses).

be employed outside of the UK.
not be a citizen of the UK.
being able to speak and write English well
Possess a well-thought-out and advantageous study project.

Award duration:

Applicants may request up to £12,000 in research fees and up to £8,000 in moving expenses. The amount of research expenses and relocation fees they claimed in their application must be supported.

Following the period of their Fellowship, applicants will also be able to receive follow-on alumni money to promote networking activities with UK-based or foreign researchers.

The British Academy International Fellowship is anticipated to begin somewhere between October 2023 and March 2024.

Each of the Awards is anticipated to run for three years. Under this program, the cost of the visa and any related expenses for the applicant and their families (such as the fees of the Immigration Health Surcharge) are eligible.
