I can relate. The company I worked as a security personnel, the workers submit their phones in our security department before resuming.. after work, they collect their gadgets back.

The essence of such method is to curb distraction and ensure full attention in the course of carrying out duties.

During my undergraduate days, I worked as a housekeeper and a Potter in two different hotels. Omo, you must submit your phones before resuming. Nothing is more frustrating than this at work but then, you have to trust guy men na. We always have our ways of getting our gadgets in. I always go in with a small cooler...the security guys will think I came with food, not knowing it's my phone I packaged inside there.


Reason for doing this is for safety. Different people come to hotel. You will be surprise to see your father with another woman in there, but you just have to work according to the ethos of the job. Your phone can be tempted to film with when you see such. So for the safety of the guests which most be protected by the management, phones and other mobile gadgets have to be restricted.

Outside Nigeria like UK you will get punished if not outright sack if you are caught using your phone during work hours. Things like this only happen in Nigeria without caution one major reason customer service is poor.

Not only UK, same policy in the USA.

You will get used to it. This is my 6th year working for such company, a very popular brand in Nigeria. It's not easy but the salary no make me quit. By the way my small phone is always around to pick calls.

Some jobs require your full concentration or else you will lose money and customers👌

Not really but it has to be dropped in the locker room. You can't carry ur phone with you during shift except on break.
If you're caught with phone on shift and something happens to any patient... Mehn, you're a goner 😂

Why not buy a small buttons phone, that you can use to answer emergency calls, while you submit the smartphone to them.

You need to come and work here o! 12-hour shift and you must not have your phone with you. Even the Data Entry job I did 4 hours daily (Monday to Friday) from 7pm to 11pm required I don't have my phone so I always kept it locked in the staff locker room.

I remember a frnd who was shortlisted in Army for onward movement to Kaduna and was taken alongside with his other successful State candidates by his State government. His dad got to knw and requested them to send his son back to Lagos cos he don't want to lose him cos they will post to those useless BHTs regions. To cut the story short, he came back to Lagos and started his work as an electronic and Electricals Engineer in one bank. After his arrival, just 5days back from Army training o, the guy was working on an electric pole and gt electrocuted and die at the spot.

Now, this is my theme of discussion, he left training cos of death and he still died in his daily duty. So that's it o! Stop wishing pple bad.
