The faulty assumption you're making is that all the 12m voters in the North who normally vote buhari are APC members.
It is instructive for you to note that while buhari left ANPP who had 7 govs as at the time he left, he was able to pull 12m votes with a party with little or no political structure.
So it's not just about the political bigwigs. It's about what drives people in making political choices.
For example, can you confidently say Atiku will not perform better in the North than he did in 2019 due to the split in pdp?
