THE SINS OF IFEANYI OKOWA AND WHY DELTANS NOW HATE HIM AND PDP

The return of democratic rule in 1999 ushered in the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, headed by His Excellency, Olorogun James Onanefe Ibori as its second democratically elected governor only behind Olorogun Senator Felix Ibru. It was he (ONANEFE), literally meaning, 'this is wealth' that shouldersed the People's Democratic Party, PDP in Delta to the limelight. He achieved this through dint of hardwork, commitment to service and effective transformation. He was not clannish. It was he (Ibori) who sited the three polytechnics (now two) across the three Senatorial Districts. It was Ibori who established the College of Education in Mosogar, amongst others.

The Urhobo ethnic nationality, being the largest in the State soon adopted him (Ibori) as their political Mowoe to the extent that they waited to hear from him in every political matter. Like Mowoe and Salubi, Ibori became the mouthpiece of Delta State politics and Nigeria at large. He was widely known beyond the state he governs. In the 1999 Governorship ranking, Nigeria's three most popular Governors were Ibori, Igbinedion and then Tinubu. Elected a youth Governor, he worked tirelessly to transform the state. However, he surely had lapses being a human but it does not change the fact that his goodwill and contribution to nation building should be eradicated or quick to forget.

With Ibori as the head, he opted for rotation of power among the three Senatorial Districts in Delta State. He ruled from the Central (Urhobo ethnic nationality) and then handed power to Emmanuel Uduaghan (South) and then the incumbent Ifeanyi Okowa (North). Ibori opted for this for equity and peace. He wanted the three State Regions to have equal share of power to avoid marginalization. This was the approach that favoured Okowa, a man from Owa, a town smaller than my village. Ibori suffered for the likes of Okowa to survive, insisted and stood for Okowa to emerge while serving jail terms in a faraway land in a crime he did not commit alone, despite Emmanuel Uduaghan's Tony Obuh's choice of candidate. This is how a colossus and patriot should act.

Interestingly, at the time Ibori returned to Nigeria after serving his jail terms Okowa was facing the most challenging time of his life. A large section of Urhobo people were agitating for Ogboru to truncate the second term bid of Okowa, which Ibori saw as contrary to the verbal agreement. At Ughelli township stadium, Ibori pleaded with the Urhobo ethnic nationality that Okowa be allowed to return for a second term and that he (Okowa) would peacefully handover power to a widely accepted Urhobo man to be collectively picked by Urhobo leaders and elders in line with party primaries. Okowa in his usual way nodded his cunny head to this plea and corroborated the elder statesman. While Ibori went with Okowa to every nook and cranny soliciting votes for the re-election of Okowa, little did he know he was supporting ungratefulness, a demon and devil.

Fast forward to the People's Democratic Party, PDP, primary elections in Delta State, Okowa whom Ibori had single-handedly lobbied to power suddenly forgot how God used Ibori to bring him to the limelight, he foolishly and ungratefully plotted Ibori's political defeat. Okowa planned this by first appointing over a thousand aides, many of whom are miscreants and yahoo yahoo boys. He ensured that he recruited unprofessional media boys and girls to ruin insults at his benefactor, believing he has the sole will to play God. However, while he must have temporarily succeeded, he must now be reminded that Ibori never dies in the hand of a boy he mentored to manhood. Ibori has proven this quietly by delivering his daughter with the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta falling like amature political party to the six months old Labour Party under Peter Obi.

In the meantime, while the sins of Okowa are countless, below are the few highlighted ones that people of good conscience must not forget in a hurry:

1. Okowa single-handedly handpicked the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Candidate and picked the least Urhobo aspirant (Sheriff Oborevwori), where the likes of versatile and scholarly brains like Peter Mrakpor, SAN, Olorogun David Edevbie, Olorogun Fred Majemite and a few others with a view to ruling on proxy.

2. Okowa single-handedly borrowed billions to sponsor Atiku failed political ambition to jump his potential jail terms awaiting him in a few months time despite knowing it was the turn of the South.

3. Okowa intentionally neglected pensioners to languish in pains, adject poverty, lamentation and possibly die of hardship.

4. Okowa intentionally sited virtually every laudable project among the few he managed to establish in his 8 years of retrogressive reign in Owa-Alero.

5. Okowa intentionally fought Urhobo people by attempting to plot the fall of Ibori when he is not God.

6. Okowa intentionally wanted to reduce EDUCATION considering the worst brains he gave appointment and the party candidates he projected to cover his political mess, otherwise why will a supposed medical doctor declare support for the likes of Michael Diden, aka, Ejele and Sheriff Oborevwori?

7. Okowa intentionally stopped free WAEC enrolment in Delta State.

8. Okowa intentionally created internal war in UPU. He sponsored disunity and plotted his party men to his interest and this is why the UPU recently endorsed his prefer candidates.

9. Okowa intentionally increased school fees in our textiary institutions to deny our children quality education, considering the fact that he does not cherish scholarly brains.

10. Okowa intentionally wants Sheriff Oborevwori to succeed him because he sees him as the only one he can instruct at all times.

11. Okowa intentionally abandoned Warri township stadium, Sapele, Oghara and Ughell in favour of Asaba township stadium that he embezzled state money to temporarily construct with low materials.

12. Okowa hates to see the growth of Urhobo people and this is why he picks the worst brains in Urhoboland to work under him.

13. Under Okowa, the taxation increased despite the huge Revenue. Okowa's boys are holding irons and wood on Benin-Sapele road, Benin-Asaba, Ughelli and Asaba and other major roads fraudulently checking Driver's License

14. Okowa bears self-styled 'road master' in a state where there are no roads.

I don't even know who's better between Uduaghan and Okowa.....These men are terrible.

If Deltans know what's good for them they should flush out PDP and try another party.

Half truths, Half lies,

I am an Isoko man, full blooded,

Firstly, Okowa is a Theif,

secondly Okowa is a very big Thief,

Thirdly, Okowa is a Crook.

Yes Okowa actively recruited several Social media hypers who attack you at the slightest expression of opposite views.

Also, Okowa’s Appointees are very corrupt like him, the likes of DEsOPADEC czar Askia Ogieh who has been spearheading internal crises within the Uzere Community,

Prosper Edo who has been funding crises in his Igbide town of Delta State.

Michael Diden (as Chairman of DEsopadec) who he used to loot The Agency and also sponsored the same Diden Ejele for Senate which Diden lost to the Technocrat Joel Thomas of Apc.

I don’t fault Okowa for fighting for self preservation as all crook politicians do, I blame him for not always having a mix of Technocrats to man the various…..

Okowa is far better than Uduaghan.

Okowa's problem is that he declared a civil war against the UPU and lost. That's the virus in all SS politicians. Once dem don c small councilor position, they want to be Alpha and Omega. They start picking all kind of fights. It's why SS bigwigs are very careful about mentoring or making others proteges.

It is that misguided misadventure that led him to cite all his infrastructural projects in Delta North. At the end of the day, the same kinsmen joined outsiders to castigate him and voted Obi.

In comparison, Uduaghan did nothing. Not for his people, not for Deltans. He spent 8 years stealing. That was his sole and only project.

Omo-Agege will be no different. All of the APC chieftains are disgruntled PDP men. Omo-Agege has been in the Senate for 8 years and DSP for 4 years, what are his achievements? Delta still plays politics of You-Chop-I-Chop. After you don drop kola for all the "stakeholders", there is nothing left for development.

This will not change until the old guard are dead. Dem Ibori, Amori, Okumagba and co. The next generation have already been inducted into this brand of politics, so there's not much hope for them either. They know nothing else. 50 years to come, they'd be changing parties and wondering why things are still the same.

Democracy is the tyranny of the majority.

Urhobos are the majority in Delta. They even tried with the rotation, there are states where the dominant tribe keeps it and tell the other tribes to do their worse. But because of '99, it was resolved that egalitarian system of rotation be practiced.

Okowa f*cked up. And had a lot of time to retrace his steps but failed to.

You're saying the best man should win. Will you be proud of calling Sheriff your governor? Tinubu cannot make MC Oluomo gubernatorial candidate when the likes of Sanwo Olu are there.

Uduaghan and Okowa names came out by consensus. Both of them tried to scuttle the next consensus candidate. Consensus is how we do things in the SS. When Uduaghan was to become the governor, he was already the richest SSG in the country. Okowa had been a Senator since 1999 before becoming the governor. After benefiting richly, they want to destroy the ladder they climbed. The kyn choices they're pushing sef are not marketable. Ambode no do reach lyk dat before dem bundle am comot.

Well said, Omo-agegge would end up being worse. He was part of the PDP before he switched over to accord and now APC. Ovie Omo-agegge has nothing to offer.
The shift in Delta would happen, if they massively support Labour party. Tinubu would work with all state governors irrespective of party affiliation. So let no one deceive you in Delta, that bringing Omo-agege to power would align the state to the center.
Omo-agege is a mace snatcher and a bigger crook.
