The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has unveiled plans to confer an award of excellence on President Muhammadu Buhari in promotion of democracy.

ECOWAS Chairman, Guinea Bissau’s Umaro Sissoco Embalo, made the disclosure at a bilateral meeting with the President on the sidelines of the ongoing 5th United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries in Doha, Qatar.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the award is in recognition of President Buhari’s achievements in the defence and promotion of democracy in West Africa.

Apart from the presidential elections which was scuttled by Tinubu, the election of 25th was widely accepted.

By signing the electoral act, Buhari made it difficult for politicians to rig the elections and get away with it. He set a trap and Tinubu fell into the trap

We have seen in recent gubernatorial elections that numbers have reduced drastically due to the implementation of technology as well as cancellation policies by INEC should violence erupt.

All these are thanks to Buhari for increasing transparency in electoral matters in Nigeria.
