Rufai doesn't know that the Lagos colonoy included the majority of Ogun state and Oyostate in it?

Your Rufai doesn't know that there are similar treaties across Africa between colonial masters and indigenous people of the colonies in the colonial period?

Rufai doesn't Know Lagos State is different from Lagos island?

The Lagos state included

Majority of Lagos mainland, Ikorodu, Badagry and Epe that were never part of Lagos island or FCT intial plan by the colonial maters.

please , who is your father Whose son are you , please?

Oseni, a world class journalist is dumb because thugs want to force sanwolu down the throat of everyone. Do you know that you are a FATELESS idiot?

Ido is in Ibadan and Ekiti..

Only idumota is the land area given to Benin.

Iddo has nothing to with Benin.

In 1923 in the Tijani Oluwa case the highest Court in the British Empire ruled that Lagos belonged to the indigenous people of Lagos
The British tried to grab some part of Lagos and Ogun just as they grabbed some parts in Australia and Canada from the aborigines.

Rufai is dumb grin

is just lyk saying ekiti ppl owns ekiti state not yoruba (ekiti ppl ar wat ??)

aworis, egba ,ijebu, egun, osun all are yoruba

The eguns deny they are Yorubas. Yoruba was a derogatory term coined by the invading Fulani jihadist to describe the people of Oyo. It means people that slippery that can't be trusted. Later the term caught on and all other tribes with language close to that of Oyo accepted the term except a few like the Eguns.

This is one of those Epic Colonia mental lies that was sold to us as Dummies in Africa. Why is the geographical location of Britain? How can someone come from thousands of miles away to own where your ancestral fathers grew up to know as their land. Another educated slave as just buttressed why Africans remain as slaves. We should be able to tell our own stories the way it is. Why do we always need validation from one Britain or USA before we can believe in ourselves?

This is Lagos island not Lagos State.

Just like Oyo state is different from Oyo town.

Enugu town is different from Enugu state

Lagos State is a Creation of the Nigerian military government.

By the way, there is nothing contentious in saying Lagos State is Yoruba land.

The whole of Nigeria once belonged to Royal Niger company as a private property. It doesn't mean there were no indigenous Hasuas in Kano or indigenous Igbos in Anambra at that time.
And the whole of Canada once belonged to the Hudson Bay company (a British company) despite the fact that there were aborigines (Red Indians) in Canada.

Lagos is not a no man's land.
Lagos is not a yoruba land.
Lagos has its indigenous people who are the binis and aworis.

Every other person is either a lagosian by birth or a migrant.
Any other thing is bull shit.

That's why both of you are failures. As of as you are you don't know the difference between lagos island and Lagos State.

Who owned Lagos before the British came ? British simply handed Lagos to the real owners after colonization just like they did to Nigeria at large. There’s a reason the British government didn’t hand over Lagos to another tribe simply because they ain’t the owners. Some people just like to fuel crisis and enjoy living in a delusion that resort to self harm

Lagos belongs to the Yorubas,it is located in south west, which is the region of Yoruba people. So if you are saying it's a NO MAN'S LAND,you are just jealous of them.

A simple Wikipedia article with relevant references would have saved rufai the embarrassment. Rufai is not a deep thinker. He thrives on picking crumbs of information and running with it. Just search for Lagos Colony and see the results

Lagos Colony was a British colonial possession centred on the port of Lagos in what is now southern Nigeria. Lagos was annexed on 6 August 1861 under the threat of force by Commander Beddingfield of HMS Prometheus who was accompanied by the Acting British Consul, William McCoskry. Oba Dosunmu of Lagos (spelled "Docemo" in British documents) resisted the cession for 11 days while facing the threat of violence on Lagos and its people, but capitulated and signed the Lagos Treaty of Cession.[1] Lagos was declared a colony on 5 March 1862.[2] By 1872, Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading center with a population over 60,000.[3] In the aftermath of prolonged wars between the mainland Yoruba states, the colony established a protectorate over most of Yorubaland between 1890 and 1897.[4] The protectorate was incorporated into the new Southern Nigeria Protectorate in February 1906, and Lagos became the capital of the Protectorate of Nigeria in January 1914.[2] Since then, Lagos has grown to become the largest city in West Africa, with an estimated metropolitan population of over 9,000,000 as of 2011.[5]

When we say Lagos is Yorubaland, we mean Yorubas are the indigenous people of Lagos. Just as Hausas are the indigenous people of Kano. Is Rufai's brain paining him?

It seems that this Rufai doesn't think straight most of the time. How on earth cold he have said that The British owned Lagos. Who were the inhabitants of Lagos before they came? Who did they come to preach Christianity to? Who were they trading with then in the time of slave trading? Is he saying Lagos was just a bare land that devoid habitation until they came? What on earth is he saying because of politics?

Anyway, it's been said one tends to get foolishness where he's expected to get wisdom. Rufai, the election will be over, I'll advise you to sit yourself down and replay all you've said and done during this electioneering period to check if all made sense. I'm sure you, yourself will be surprised at the outcome. You will be asking yourself then if you were the one that said or acted that way.

Shalom

how is bini indigenous to Lagos? So, Bini man crossed Ondo and Ogun state to be indigenous in Lagos? Your brain painning you? Also, Awori is Yoruba and so is Ijebu (another group indigenous to Lagos). The problem with you non-Yorubas who're obsessed with Lagos is that you don't even have basic sense.

That's rubbish! Does that mean nobody occupies Lagos before the advent of the British? Just like saying Mungo Park discover river Niger.
