We can blame the man for not using safety equipment while working but if we're honest with ourselves, we all know that you can't get any repairs to your transformer and other equipments without paying hefty sums to NEPA which can take long months to conclude, the only other way to solve your problem fast is to call an independent contractor even as it's very dangerous. The lackadaisical attitude of electricity staff to their duties led to this man's death

an HT pole is supposed to have an isolator so you can isolate the transformer before working on it.
under o circumstances are you supposed to work on a live transformer
the ht isolator is required so you can isolate the transformer without shutting down the line.

I understand man must survive, but that doesn't mean you'll leave your minor electric in-house work to venture into works meant for the professionals. And yet, without safety measures.

Work NEPA professionals with safety tools go do, you wear polo and jeans enter am...say ‘no bi only to join cable wey cut?’

For my side mah, every electrician dey claim e fit do anything electrical..even high tension. Abi na the stereotype from people to them say na true?

No dey do pass yourself o. Those who studied Elect-elect even give themselves boundaries...not you who was an apprentice to an in-house electrician doing outdoor majors. No dey do pass yourselves.

I remember this was the same way Nduka was electrocuted. We escorted him down forcefully with a dry bamboo stick before all his blood were dried up. Till date, his hands are still paralyzed and down to his arm, dried up for life. Nduka survived but learnt a big lesson.

Sadly for this man, he couldn't. A very horrible way to die.

Electricity is abstract, that's what my HOD always tell us at work so its imperative to work safe always.

If you ain't fully kitted you can't enter the plant, even at home I work safe. At times the devil will just be whispering to me in a small voice "na small work na, abeg connect sharp sharp and leave there"........I don't listen to him.

RIP to him.

You don't have to insult him. It is risky for the none NEPA staff whom just call themselves electricians.
Even NEPA dey off light if them wan repair any transformer cable or pole.

But since you are doing it legally, why not just off the switch first before you commence your job, why take such risk, person wey created electricity sef Na that electricity kill am talkless of you common now, now dem don deny knowing you... RIP

No one created electricity. It is a form of energy so it was discovered not invented or created. And neither Michael Faraday, Thomas Edison, William Gilbert, Sir Thomas Browne, nor Benjamin Franklin—people credited for the discovery of electricity— died from electrocution. They all died of natural causes.

It safer to get our facts right so we audit our memory with right facts, and speak with conviction.

You don't call someone or his job stupid. It's a childish talk.
NEPA do have contract staff like these Electricians. They're the ones that do minor repairs on poles and transformers after a storm or say issues with overloading. Anyone who takes the job knows what they're getting themselves into.
One of the wires from the mains to my house melted yesterday. I had to call an electrician to come fix it.
You don't say that kind of trash about people cos their job is risky. The boy is foolish

There is nothing better than knowledge in this life. No knowledge is a waste.

I was cut up in this same circumstance as a young Engineer in 1994 (unconscious, between life and death), but I was thought in School that without being earthed you can't be electrocuted because the circle of current is not completed, I strugglingly jumped a little between life and deaths, thrown back and regained consciousness.
Working on 415V or 11,000V is not for newbies.

Trainers and Engineers should teach their trainee (especially craftsmen and technicians) all safety and life saving tricks during and after training.

Can you say more on this, because from the knowledge I have, isolators should not be operated on-load, especially HV, as they do not have arc quenching capabilities (with respect to 'isolate transformer without shutting down the line').

What could have given him the moral to work on a transformer without a complete safety set? Rip to him.

Btw,after a clash between one Moh.. and sister fire here,no one has ever seen moh active like before after sister fire was banned. Could it be that the curse is taking its effects?

I have stayed for up to nine months without light at least twice, six months several times and that's because some people felt the bills we pay are supposed to cover repairs. NEPA will just say ok while you get old waiting for them until you decide to get sense and pay them specially or get an independent contractor who is usually one of them off duty. You won't have steady light if you're not crooked
