The Nigerian Army has accused the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), an outlawed group, of planning to ambush and attack security operatives in the South-East region.

Attacks by gunmen have increased in the South-East in recent times.

The attacks often target security agencies and government facilities.

In an internal memo sent to commanders, the army urged soldiers to be more wary of movements outside barracks.

They were also warned to watch their language in public and avoid making any inflammatory remarks that could escalate tensions.

“I am directed to inform All Officers and Men of the Command of a planned attack by aggrieved group (IPOB) on security agencies in the South East. Intelligence revealed that the aggrieved group claimed that several of their members were killed in Abia on 31st March, 2023.

“To ensure your safety and security of our formation and officers; it is advisable to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

“It is also essential to watch your language in public spaces and avoid making any inflammatory remarks that could escalate tensions.

“Please follow the instructions given in the message, including remaining vigilant, carrying your rifles while on guard duty, and refraining from wearing your uniform outside of the office premises/ barracks.

“Please follow the instructions given to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you. Thank you for your continued dedication.”

The Nigerian government had in the past accused IPOB of being responsible for the deadly attacks in the South-East.
But the group has repeatedly denied any involvement in the attacks. IPOB is leading the agitation for an independent state of Biafra to be carved out from the South-East and some parts of the South South Nigeria.

The leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu, is currently detained in Abuja where he is facing trial for treason.

Nigerian Army should be professional in conduct.

Why kill unharmed protesters, u could have called police and jailed them for treason .

Now because of ur stupid action ,they have created unnecessary Martyrs of these people.

Tinubu should install professionalism in armed forces as topmost priority as it will help in fight against insecurity.

Why is the Army warning their soldiers after murdering unarmed civilians?

For your information, when you hear Security Personnels mention IPOB, it means every able body Igbo person, male or female.

They kill at easy without arrest and carry the corpses.

This is genocide and nothing more.

Buy why kill unarmed protesters, What happened to arresting and charging them to court?

If you dish out unprofessionalism, you are likely to receive unprofessionalism.

After shooting and killing unarmed protesters, you start sending useless memos, fearing reprisal attacks

Why do you have to shoot unarmed peaceful people?

People were peacefully protesting for the release of Nnamdi Kanu in Aba on 31st of last month, they did not touch anybody.

You rush to where they are and open fire, killing at least 5 of them, saying they are proscribed

You bring violence and death where there is peace, now you are warning your officers to be careful for their lives

Should the same people rise up and kill you back in revenge, you will call them terrorists

This one tire me

They protested total marginalization you killed almost all of them..

Court said you should release their leader but you said no.

They protested abroad, you used our dollar to bribe foreign media.

They called on world power over the killings of their unarmed citizens by the Nigerian military, you went further to bribe foreign media so as to proscribe them as terror group.

Just last week they protested in accordance with law, you still killed them.

Now when they decide to take arms to defend themselves, you start raising alarms like an ambulance 🚑

Of all the killings that were committed and currently ongoing by the dreaded Fulani group , the Nigerian soldier have never responded to the call of the victims.

So much of unprofessionalism by the nigerian military...

Nigerian military of today is best referred to as gangstars

The world is watching..
