Police to fish out officer assaulting man in Rivers

The Police have commenced investigation into the viral video showing yet-to-be-identified policeman assaulting a man in Rivers.

The footage is being circulated on social media.
It is unclear the offence the man committed but The Nation learnt the incident, took place at Port Harcourt East West Road, Emouha Junction.

In the now-viral video seen by The Nation, the police officer is recorded assaulting the man with a stick while the man struggled to avoid being assaulted.

Reacting, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adeobi condemned the action of the officers.

He noted that efforts are ongoing to fish out the officers involved in the dastardly act.

Adejobi said: “Quite unfortunate. I have asked the Rivers State Command to fish them out.
“This is unpolice, unethical, and condemned. Whatever the man must have done, he doesn’t deserve this beating. Beating him like a baby?? A grown-up man? We will surely get the men.”
