We can start the conversation here.
Topic: Impacts of Subsidy Removal on SMEs

What alternative measures are in place to cushion the effect?
How would subsidy removal impact petroleum product availability?
What would be the impact on consumers goods and services?
How will it affect cost of borrowing?
What are the social and environmental implications?

If a poor man on the street has nothing to do with fuel then removing subsidy is a great deal. As far as Nigeria is concern the only government presence I feel is getting fuel at a relatively low price.
Outside Nigeria the common man hardly knows the price of petrol reason being that there is 24 hours power supply. Transportation is subsidised. IMF wouldn't tell our leaders that UK and other developed countries subsidised transportation cost for her citizens.
The way cost of living will rise at the removal of subsidy may lead to rebellion that the president will find hard to quell. Tinubu should go back to the drawing board and identify ways to close gaps.

Nigerians do not know what is about to hit them. Who is diverting the fuel subsidized?
It is the same person talking about its removal. To barb hair in Ghana is 1500.

I have preached same here for ages. I even have a thread for it. The people telling us to do away with petrol subsidy, if you see their own welfare schemes, It easily dwarfs any subsidy we are enjoying yet they telling us bullshît about removing the only welfare that ordinary unconnected Nigerians enjoy. They left corruption, wastages and leakages that's ravaging us because those money make it to London and New York banks, thereby strengthening their capital base.

If it were a silly thread, would have spilled over 20 pages now.

Nah… this topic is too much for the mental capacity of the average Nigerian.

Quite sad.

Imagine to cut hair in Ghana is more expensive than a cut off head in Ogun state and some scam elements are talking bullshît about removing the only true thing we enjoy. Will subsidy removal stop the theft at Federal and state level? Will it make refineries magically or suddenly start working?
Will it make the welfare schemes they rechanneling these funds to corruption free or off great impact?

In Scotland jobless people line up to receive stipend of 100000 every two weeks. IMF wouldn't advise UK to stop this. Transportation in Scotland is almost free. Education is free amongst others. The only thing government provides for free in Nigeria is fuel at a relatively low cost yet IMF wants the best brain in Nigeria to leave the country. This is where this is driving to.

Are you aware that as a first step civil service salaries have gone up 40% and that the increase is accrued under non taxable benefits? Why don't you exercise patience.
