A country producing and relying on petroleum is now promoting her own failure...
Electric cars are good, but it is wired seeing Nigeria as one of the product customer .
Why promote a product that will cripple your economy?

Oga keep quite jare, are you a jjc in Lagos, with all the money Lagos state has, the development peace doesn't match up. How can the sixth biggest economy in Africa look this shitty.
jumper524:
Lagos has lived up to expectation.
Despite the Abuja being the capital of Nigeria since 1991, it has struggled to gain clear cut advantage over lagos state as both City are still very competitive in development.
When I give kudos to the architecture of modern lagos(Asiwaju) , people would complain that its the federal capital in the past, meanwhile they've had 3 governors after the capital was moved to Abuja before Asiwaju yet none of them were seen to be credible enough to be given this accolades.
God bless Asiwaju and the lagos state governors who have set up standard of development.
Also God bless Baba tunde raji fashola.

Lagos always doing as if it is a country of its own separate from Nigeria. Wonderful, forward-thinking government!

Other States need to step up and emulate some of these things.

They will start rushing down to Lagos again o...
Once they hear or see anything new in Lagos, they will take overnight buses and rush down to Lagos to say they are the developers of Lagos and that it is their land...

Lagos, the first state to use electric buses for mass transit....

God bless Lagos... God bless Yoruba land. God bless all omoluabis.

Other states and regions should also step up...

To the bitter bad belle people that have toxic questions

*How will it run without electricity?!

- Lagos bus, Lagos Rail, LASG Secetariat and Lagos Hospitals would all run on Independent Power Plant built by Tinubu off grid

*Will it run out of power?!

-No a BRT bus runs 200km daily, a fully charged electric Buss has a full capacity of 280km per 100% full charge

*Can we maintain the Busses

-Tinubu built BRT lane but Diesel metrol busses and since 2 decades it had grown remarkable to an Electric model.. EV busses have few parts that requires maintaining unlike Diesel busses.. I runs on Fast Charger Electric rotor,

.

All very good points. I am going to share this so it also goes lower down in the thread as for sure some people manage to miss facts even when the facts shout at them.

I am particularly excited because it appears Oando is laying down the infrastructure for private EV's

To be objective, not a good idea!

You’ll spend more time charging the bus than it being on the road.

High temperatures are not good for rechargeable batteries; perhaps hydrogen powered fuel cells would be a better idea.

Unless they have dedicated bus lanes that will allow for unhindered movement, it will severely affect the advertised 280km range. Is the advertised range with full load or empty?

Lastly and more importantly, recharging times is crucial. A Tesla plugged into house mains can take more than 20-40 hours unless you use a super charger. Now this bus will definitely have a higher battery pack/power requirement. If it doesn’t support super charging; it could spend days charging.

Aesthetically, wonderful but may not be practical!

Biased how? Am I from Lagos? I want my state to do better by trying to emulate Lagos - I never said other states must meet up in all respects. But they should try! This is not even just about infrastructure. Even in terms of Laws Lagos is far ahead of other States in its legal system with some progressive laws, especially in its criminal laws. It is not a competition rather we must copy good examples!

The problem i have in this country is the citizens. If it was lagos that built those fly over it wouldn't be Eye-service infrastructure...lol. The infrastructure has helped Rivers state even though you are blind to see it. Another government should do other things since they have built solid road infrastructure.

First of all, no one cares what your problem with Nigeria is. "lol". Secondly, may I inform you that the problem you have is yourself. You made a series of assumptions based on the way you think and generously credited them to "the citizens". Well, Mr man I am happy to inform you that you can keep your parochial way of thinking to yourself.

My line of thought is consistent regardless of the State. After all, I am from the South-South, not Lagos, and have no reason to be blind to good things in my own area.

Moreover, I never mentioned a particular State so maybe you can ponder on why Rivers came to your mind. If I had any particular governor in mind it was Yahaya Bello.

abegi, how much are they paying for the buses.
I asked because buying one bus with the money for 10 is tantamount to buying one and stealing nine.

Nigeria is a very funny place, you want to meet up with development as it is in developed countries, but you missed the very vital and mandatory initial step, a country where you dont have steady electricity is launching electric vehicles, how dumb those that sound.
No steady electricity, no good roads, nothing is working. Yet some people with myopic view on issues are hailing the introduction of electric buses, its all a scam, within a couple months all this busses will be parked somewhere, because there is no electricity to power it.

How much do they cost because buying one item for the cost of eleven is same as buying and stealing 10 items?

I agree partially. No steady power but not a bad idea to at least start it and see how it goes. Maybe wind and sun energy can do the charging.
