I think word "o'clock" is derived from many words and country. Some say the Latin word "hora" which means "hour, some say French, some still say the word "o'clock" is derived from the Old English word "ofercloc", or whatever they called it back then, meaning "over the clock".
The phrase "over the clock" referred to the time that the bell rang to signal the end of a church service. Not sure how true it is.

Today, "o'clock" is used as a synonym for "clockwise" or "clockwise from the 12:00 position on a clock face". For example, "I turned the knob o'clockwise three times".
The term "o'clock" is used to describe the time on a clock as being "of the hour." For example, if it is 8:00 a.m., someone might say "It is eight o'clock in the morning."

It's an abbreviation for "of the clock". Like it's supposed to be "1 of the clock" ie the first digit of the clock so instead of that we say 1 o'clock

Ok it's simple...
In the phrase "o'clock," the "o" is a shortened form of the word "of." "O'clock" is a contraction of "of the clock." So, when we say "it's 3 o'clock," we mean "it's 3 of the clock." The term "o'clock" is used to indicate the exact time, without specifying minutes or seconds, and it's a common expression used in English.

When we use the word o'clock we are saying that it is a particular hour "according to the clock." For example, "it is almost four o'clock" means the same as "it is almost four according to the clock." However, the full phrase "of the clock" is not used by native English speakers. Always use the shortened form, "o'clock."

Many years ago, in the Netherlands, there was a brilliant inventor named Christiaan Huygens who was obsessed with timekeeping. Christiaan had spent years studying the movement of the planets and stars and was determined to create a device that could accurately measure the passage of time.
Finally, after years of tinkering in his workshop, Christiaan invented the world's first pendulum clock. Excited to show it off, he went to visit his friend, Johan, who was known for his sharp mind.
When Christiaan arrived at Johan's house, he proudly presented his clock and asked Johan what time it was. But Johan was confused and couldn't figure out how to read the clock.
After several attempts to explain the clock's workings, Christiaan finally said, "Oh, it's the 'Ooooooh' clock!" And with that, Johan understood how to read the time.
Amused by his friend's initial confusion, Christiaan decided to name his clock the "Ooooooh clock." And soon enough, everyone in the town was using the "Ooooooh clock" to tell time.
As the years passed, Christiaan's invention became more refined, and pendulum clocks became a common sight in towns and cities all around the world. But the name "Ooooooh clock" remained a beloved reminder of the invention's humble beginnings and the confusion that led to its creation
