A member of the Oodua People's Congress (OPC), Rafiu Akinwale, has allegedly killed an Akure Prince, Adesoji Adesida, in Ondo State, IGBERETV reports.

According to report, the incident occurred at a funeral held at the Dome in Akure on Friday, April 28, 2023.

Akinwale, who also came to the funeral, was reportedly beating his girlfriend over an accusation that she was exchanging phone numbers with another man.

It was gathered that an attempt by Adesida to prevent Akinwale from beating the girlfriend did not go down well with the OPC member, who out of anger, reportedly pushed the prince. He was said to have slumped.

An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. He further said that the suspect has been arrested by the policemen at Ala station in Akure.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said investigation was ongoing on the case.

She added that the suspect was still in police custody where he was being interrogated by detectives.

A cousin to the deceased, Prince Stephen Adeyinka Adeyinka, also confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Monday, May 1, 2023. His post read;

The p**$y you wants to yourself alone, can now be freely share by many guys now that you're about to go on your new journey of life. That think been killing men long time ago. I remembered during my University days, the polytechnic in another town, two different groups of cult members killed each other to the scores of 41 to 9 within a short period of two weeks for this same reason. Pu**y is like a knife on the neck of men.

Clearly the OPC member did not kill this man, BUT then again it will be said that he killed the man and we cannot even argue against it. For all of u muscle flexing guys, don't make ur muscle replace your brain. Keep your hands away from people. So many Nigerians are are walking dead already. If a car honks too loud, some will collapse and die....no let ur muscle spoil ur life.
No dey fight because of woman, any love wey no come easy, I don't care what anyone says, it's not worth it. There will always be someone out there willing to be urs and urs alone. It's total lack of self esteem to be fighting to keep ur man or woman. Or prevent him or her from talking to other suitors. If she's enjoying other suitors attention, just dump him or her and have ur peace of mind... the pussy he was fighting for will now be straffed by other men with reckless abandon while he rots away in jail

I thought respect for elders is sacrosanct in those parts?

After I watched one short video where a guy pulled a jiu jitsu move on someone in the street and killed him cold, I made the decision to by all means avoid fights, brawls and altercations.

Also, though unpopular, I do not meddle in people's fights or try to be peace maker, every adult has the faculty to choose between right and wrong. So if an adult chooses to go into a rage, hell no way I'm playing UN.

Same thing with a woman in an abusive relationship, except you expressly call for my help, I'll never be caught doing the work of onyeoma Eliza.

So much wisdom, put together here.

Yoruba muslims are always killing Yoruba Christians-- always! In fact, the majority of skull miners in SW are Yoruba muslims, and majority of their victims are Yoruba Christians. This have been going on for decades for it to be a coincidence.

The issue here could have happened btwn anyone of any religion or tribe so why the bigotry and creating animosity?
