Udom Emmanuel, like many Nigerians, is a religious zealot. That is why this is allowed.

However, because religion is so important to Nigerians it will make money. I'm curious to see where that money goes. Just as I'm always curious to see where all the tithes and offerings that Nigerians give every week end up. Rarely is it used for anything that will benefit the wider society.

When Nigerians talk about their politicians, I start wondering if the politicians are from another country, or if the politicians are some kind of different humans.

In as much as the leaders of the country are dumb, I can say its a reflection of the society.

I was in a country few days ago, and I heard the story of a young Nigerian who we had to assist.

A Nigerian collected 1.2 million Naira from this young mans old mother for a visa that cost less than 60,000 naira. His mother had to sell all she had because they promised the youbg man a job. Guess what, there was no job. Now he is stranded and we had to help.

Some of those castigating the leaders are worse than the devil. I have stopped taking Nigerians serious. Of course, we have some good heads, but I can say a large percent of the population will perform worse if given the opportunity.

Nigeria has a very big issue.

Don’t Saudi government spend way more ?
Are they not prosperous ?

Until Nigeria fix injustice issues, especially the ones being meted against the south Easterners , una efforts end in futility.

Nigérian politicians need to understand that religion can rarely reduce crimes in the society, but we can achieve that by lifting people out of poverty.

If we focus on religion and the reality doesn't allow people to practice what they learn in church and mosque, it becomes a total waste of time.

No society has ever been uplifted courtesy of religion. Northern Nigeria is a prime example - what good has Islam done the north?

European countries did not begin to lift the majority of their people out of poverty until after WW2 with the advent of the welfare state. Before then the poor in those nations were left to the mercy of the various churches who typically did little to nothing to make life easier for the masses because they understood (as we all do) that a prosperous society is a less religiously dependent one.

Saudi is an anomaly. You need to look at the source of their prosperity, it did not come about because of investment in human capital.

Visit Germany and see the number of churches there. Most of them are now UNESCO world heritage sites preserved for their magnificent history from medieval times. They are now raking in millions of euros and millions of tourists every year for the cities they're located in, like in Cologne.

There is a serious problem with using public funds to build such in places without adequate electricity or public water, waste services, education, healthcare or security. It's a disgraceful application of funds.

The governors now compete in building flyovers, mosques and airports in their states where there are no treated running water for the citizens.
They go abroad and drink treated running water from kitchen taps. They return to Nigeria and watch their citizens sink private water boreholes - and indiscriminately. Some citizens consume untreated water from the boreholes and die gradually. Nobody knows causes of the deaths. Life span in Nigeria dips lower and lower.
HOW GOVERNORS BUILD POVERTY. Blame Nigeria's political system and process that spring up square pegs into roundholes for political leadership.

The curse is reason why the political class cannot change the dysfunctional political system in Nigeria. It's believed another reason for the curse is proceeds from crude oil and gas deposits.

That's what people failed to understand about governors. Almost everyone has an opinion on what good governance is all about until they get there. People think they know better than Nigerian politicians, but put them in that same position and they'll perform woefully. Everybody want to build factory, construct roads in every LGA, provide jobs out of nothing, build schools and hospitals, employ staff with adequate salaries and pension arrangements on top how much?

It's time we start discussing the disadvantage Africa politicians found themselves in compare to their contemporary in the world.

If they are at a disadvantage is that not even more reason why they should not spend on religion?

The structure is quite beautiful. I went there to have close look. That Ecumenical Center will need security checks to go in, otherwise people will abandone their churches just go to in there. Julius Berger is doing a great job with the construction. All concrete mix.

No expense should be spared in getting those signature structures in the land that feeds Nigeria through her Wealth.

The structure is beautiful right but is chuch building an investment?
