A South African politician, Tebogo Sepale (43) appeared in court on Wednesday.

Sepale was arrested for recording himself having sexual intercourse with a 15-year old male minor.

He is facing eleven charges, two for statutory rape, three for the violation of a child with consent, one for manufacturing pornographic material, four for rape and one for sexual intimidation.

National Prosecutions Authority spokesperson Henry Mamothame says Sepale appointed a private attorney to represent him in the matter.

He says the state will oppose any bail application.

"The state is awaiting further details on the investigation to possibly add more charges against the accused."
