Budget deficit means you are spending above your income. When you do that for many years it must have a limit

When you donate blood in hospital there is a limit to what you can donate
There is a limit to subsidy and there is a limit to argument.

i think the losers will be Fuel importers and the fraudsters operating around fuel importation corridor.....what i think will happen is that Dangote will be regulated to a large extent to keep price of fuel reasonable, but that will mean more opportunities for him..maybe a large part of the financial obligation of Dangote refinery will be taken over by the FG or maybe FG directly subsidizing Dangote instead of importers......this would eliminate importers....but that's just my thinking

Every nation subsidises at least one thing for it's citizen. Petrol happens to be the only commodity Nigeria subsidises.
This in my opinion is currently justified since we have not gotten the local production right. This is a Nigerian problem that we must deal with for now.
What is the essence of governance when you throw your citizens into more hardship by removing fuel subsidy just because few corrupt people are benefitting unjustly from it. Why not tackle the corruption that sorrunds it.

Fuel subsidy should naturally go when we start getting our fuel locally without any form of importation.
