Don't mind him...Because he is comfortable with his blogging life as adverts are paid for and sitting in his room making money not moving on transport that's why he can talk and reason like that. He is a self-centered person who don't think of others

This guy sef ehh! 🤣
Why shouldn't the civil servant salary go up when the price of fuel increases, how much be minimum wage sef!🤷‍♂️.
Their salary have not increased at the same rate as the cost of living. Inflation has caused the cost of goods and services to go up, but the salary for civil servants has not kept up. Also, the cost of fuel has gone up. This has a direct impact on their cost of living, as it increases the cost of transportation, food, and other goods. Abi Dem no get family to feed!

The government should recognise that the rising cost of living is affecting everyone, not just those on low incomes. One of the civil servant’s job is to help keep the country running, and they should be rewarded for their hard work with a salary increase that reflects the increased cost of living.

The price of petrol has been going up for years, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. This is putting a lot of pressure on people’s budgets, especially those who have to commute to work. But the price of petrol is only one part of the cost of living – it’s also been going up for food, electricity, gas and other essentials.
The increase alone sef would show that the government cares about its employees, and that they are willing to do what they can to help them cope with the rising cost of living.
I no come understand wetin this guy dey cap! 🤷‍♂️

As in eh. This thing na common sense na. Civil servants will even feel the brunt of the increase more than others. Most of them transport everyday to their place of work. We are not even talking about the ripple effect on food and other consumables.

What you people don't know the civil servant salaries increment is the main trigger of inflation where commodities are concern.
Anyone that understand Nigeria very well will know that anytime govt increases the salary of workers every other thing jumps up.

Fuel hike will spike inflation no doubt but the way Nigeria market & landlords respond to salary increment of workers is scarier .. naa inflation pro max

The solution to the current problem is not salary increment, Govt just have to find a way to flood our markets with abundance that will drive price low, and our naira has no value that is what needs to be corrected

Mtcheww! 🥱
So out of all things to cause inflation, na civil servant salary increment be the major issue! 🤷‍♂️
Can you explain how flooding market with abundance will drive price low?

1. Increases in the cost of goods and services can be caused by a variety of factors, such as rising fuel costs, production costs, or labour costs. Therefore, it is not necessarily accurate to pin the blame for inflation solely on salary increases for civil servants.

2. In some cases, the overall increase in prices may be due to factors such as economic growth or population growth, which are not necessarily related to civil servant salaries.

3. It is also worth noting that, in some cases, salary increments for civil servants may actually help to control or even reduce inflation, as they can lead to an increase in overall spending and help to stimulate the economy.

There are a number of factors that can contribute to inflation, and it is not always accurate to blame salary increments for civil servants for this problem. 🙄

You know abi you think you know ?? some of you are really naive

Anyone that understands basic economics should know that salary increase can't solve the was problem of a currency that has no value.
The best solution to all our problem is if Nigeria regains value, if naira can regain as high as #300 to a dollar Nigerians we feel true relieved, only that triggers deflation
Salary increment is counter productive because it automatically triggers inflation

At the bolded, it's what the gov't should have tried doing before even removing fuel subsidy. Angola and Algeria are also removing fuel subsidy, but they are not relying on a private-owned refinery that has not even started production. Nigerian government is removing subsidy without providing things that can cushion its impact. That's a calamitous decision.

Keep trying to demonize somebody. Question is where will government see money to pay X3 of salaries.
Inasmuch as transportation is important, rise in its cost should not requisite X3 of pay rise. A 50% pay rise is more realistic.
If you want to insult me, please be ready to pay your staff earning 100k, 300k or shut tha fuk up.

Naive man do you know that naira has further been devalued to 631 to a dollar?

If the FG ain't giving value to our currency then the workers should get higher pay simple.
Someone working full time in any sensible economy should have a problem to feed.

The economy that pays senator 20milion pays 30k as minimum wage.

Economics isn't just on paper, travel and see how countries are run.

I agree with most of the things you say esp. in a sane clime, but Nigeria is different
The problem of Nigeria is human factor, even the best economics policies will struggle to thrive in Nigeria.
Petrol hike started since monday, the only thing that as responded is cost of transportation, But prices of commodities & services are stalling becos the market forces depict low affordability, diesel & kerosene prices are falling becos low affordability as driven demand low,

Salary increment means more purchasing power in the hands of consumers, hence an increase in demand but that triggers a corresponding effect of an increase in prices.
the relationship between purchasing power and inflation is like prey and the later a predator.
The best way to strengthen our purchasing power is for naira to regain value not salary increment, the more naira regain value the more cost of living drops. the economy and people gain.

where there is over 200% inflation pushing more money out is counter productive
these is the simplest way i can explain

Re: Is This Same Person The Owner Of Nairaland? by Standing5(m): 9:44am On Jun 03, 2023
He is right.

Civil servant don't spend all their money on fuel alone. Other commodities are only expected to experience a marginal increase in production cost as a result of petrol price increase.

Take farm produce for example, petrol price increase cant and won't push prices of fertilizer, labour, or seedlings up by 200%. Never.

You have spoken like a lame man, lemme ask;

Do you know the present rate of Inflation in Nigeria is over 200%

Where there is inflation should govt be pushing out more money into circulation .. does it make sense.

The true value of money its in it purchasing power not amount, i prefer a 30k that can buy me two bags of rice to a 100k that will buy same two bag of rice because the later is detrimental to economy, inflation wise including cost of living

Increasing wage bill means increasing recurrent expenditure as well as overall demand especally for imported goods, while capital expenditure would decrease given our limited productibility/economic growth rate.
No doubt the minimum wage should be increased but not definitely by 300% . Imagine gatemen and cleaners earning 30k yesterday now earn 100k over night.
