Super Eagles player, Alex Iwobi who joined Everton from Arsenal in 2019, had a breakout season in 2022-2023 and was named Everton FC Players “Player” of the season award for the recently concluded season.

The award as voted for by Players of the Merseyside club was won by the Nigerian midfielder who was ever present as Everton survived the drop.

Iwobi was also the clubs most creative player scoring twice and assisting eight others to guide the club to top-flight safety.

This is the first time the Super Eagles midfielder has won the Everton FC Players Player of the year award since joining the club in 2019.

Also, Kelechi Iheanacho was named Leicester City’s best player of the 2022/23 season.

Iheanacho scored eight goals for the Foxes in all competitions over the course of the past season, He scored 5 goals in Premier League and also assisted his teammates 5 times.

The Nigeria international scored the decisive goals in wins over Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It’s the first time Iheanacho will be winning the award.

Leicester City were relegated from the Premier League following a dismal campaign. He bagged an assist in the club’s 2-1 win against West Ham United last weekend.

Whilst Iwobi's award seems more understandable at least he helped rescue Everton from being relegated, what did Iheanacho help Leicester achieved? Is it helping them to play in the second tier of English football or the fact that Leicester who have been finishing in top Six over the past few years in the English top flight even wining the Premier League in 2016/2017 season being relegated? Anyways, I believe a better club playing in a better League would buy Iheanacho. There's no way he'll be playing in the championship with all his talent.

Apart from Osimhen, Iwobi is another super eagles player whose effort for Everton this season has gone unnoticed..

The guy's contribution was really massive for Everton and he had the highest number of playing time among all Super Eagles players.

If kelechi had been given more starts in the just concluded PL season, Leicester wouldn't have suffered relegation.

This award is like a consolation to Kelechi to appeal to him to stay with the club because they know that the bigger guns are leaving and if Kelechi follows suit, the team will remain in the lower division for a very long time

Kelechi's award = please don't leave us grin grin

He’s good but not exceptional
They ended 17th
Iheanacho is a clever forward particularly when he’s in the box of the opponents.
He’s got a good rate of scoring chances created
Leicester city’s mismanagement cost them
They should have signed players
They lost their goalie and refused to get a good replacement
I think Leicester regulars also became too comfortable .eg. Ndidi
