It is only in a country like Nigeria that people think riding bicycles is a mark of poverty.

You people really need to travel outside the shores of Africa. Smh.

These people are determined to kill Nigerians. Where are bike lanes? Or are we expected to ride on the high way? The only way this works is if bike lanes are constructed in all states.

Hahahaha! The Agbado and ewa ideology is coming to reality. He wants people to be riding bicycles meanwhile him and the immediately past president family will be inside expensive cars watching us riding bicycles, for 8yrs they didn't make one refinery to work and a single man built refinery and called them to come and commission, they all went. Shameless set of people parading themselves as leaders. I just pity people that are supporting this criminals. Am sure the subsidy remover will cause the prices of food to go up, then he will come and tell us how to survive with Agbado and ewa meanwhile him and his family will be living big

Nigeria always wait till e chock before they begin to think of alternative

Lol... If I could remember, I created a thread using Lagos as an example that cars in Lagos are too much and might not be needed if the government invest more in both railway and water transportation. And also create more awareness about it.
Some Agbado guys wey no sabi anything said otherwise that SanwoOlu made the best decision for inputting more cars on the road.

Some states are crude oil producing.

The federal government should leave the crude oil to States whom are expected to pay taxes to the federal government.

Why must crude oil rich States like Rivers state suffer to ride bicycle like Sokoto state?

Why are we not practicing true federalism?

There are many ways of government easing the pain of subsidy removal aka palliatives. The government doesn't necessarily have to spend money to do this. The federal government can cut import duties by 50% for the next one year only. They can also cut excise duties for local manufacturing firms at the same rate and for the same duration. The states and local governments on their own part can stop collecting ticket revenues and daily levies from keke and bus operators in exchange for keeping transport prices at pre-removal rates for the next six months. Traders in their various markets can get similar reliefs.

[s]But no matter the strategy that government adopts, petrol subsidy must never be reinstated no matter the pressure by enemies of Nigeria led by the NLC that are remote controlled by the defeated labour party.[/s]

That would result in a revenue shortfall. The reason the government is taking out subsidy is because Nigeria presently has not enough money to finance her budget. Your darling daddy plunged the nation into huge debt that a large chunk of the money accrued from crude oil sale is being used to service it. Cutting down on other sources of IGR now would not help the government meet her obligation.

Gasoline sells between 500 and 600 in many parts of the country, so they are right to peg the increase at 300%. We've just seen the price of PMS increase in triple fold.

Angola removed subsidy but they made provisions for non- transferable debit cards for transportes to be used for pms purchase at lower rates in order for t- fare to remain stable and here some vision less folks are talking about bicycles.

PRACTICE TRUE FEDERALISM lN NIGERIA

Rich States like Lagos state, Delta, Rivers Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Ondo, can afford to build refinery and make these resources cheaper for it's people.

They do not necessarily be conditioned to suffer with the poorer states in Nigeria.

Nigeria is unnecessarily bringing the resources of regions to the federal centre just for the other lazy states especially States in northern Nigeria.

At the end of the day citizens from the rich States are suffering with the poor or lazy states?

Rich States in Nigeria can build power generation plant, railway, and even run their own sea ports.

It is the wrong culture of centralizing resources from the rich and prosperous states to the federal centre for the benefits of poor states that is why Nigeria is not moving forward

I can assure you with 100% assurance that you have nothing to benefit from the fuel subsidy removal as a Nigerian. That money will be looted as usual by the people who are going to be saddled with the responsibility to use it for the good of Nigerians
Exactly, it will be embezzled on audio projects. Since other countries are no longer giving free Loan, they are looking for other ways to fund their lavish lifestyle.

Nigerians that are either docile or active supporters of impunity that watch as evil flaunts powers are mocked ones here cos while they display their complete ignorance and stupidity, the children of their oppressors whom they support keep buying expensive vehicles that consumes more fuel than their generations can't afford.

As good as the proposal is, the inherent danger is the uncultured driving on our roads.
Drivers not obeying speed limits with no sign post as a warning .
Trucks and articulated vehicles drivers menace, motorcyclists both two and three wheelers were driving recklessly without recourse to other road users
