A meeting was reportedly held yesterday between the Federal Government and the Nigeria Labour Congress on how to reach an agreement over the hike in fuel prices. And to also avoid an impending strike designated by the NLC. The Nigeria Labour Congress President, Joe Ajaero has alleged that the meeting with President Bola Tinubu’s representative is of no value.

He stated categorically that the Union will still embark on the strike starting from Wednesday. He asserted that the Federal government and the NNPC have refused to listen to their explanation of how to solve the subsidy crisis. He alleged that the NNPC went ahead to increase the fuel price despite his warning during the previous meeting.

He said, ”Our meeting with the Tinubu government is of no use, the strike will still be held. By Tuesday night, I held a meeting with the TUC President and also with Mr. President and his team. And there and then NNPC said they were going to bring out figures and prices. And on the spot, I told them if you do that we will fight back. There is no basis for you to take that decision before the discussion. And they went ahead to do that after that meeting.”
