https://nairametrics.com/2023/06/10/list-of-past-cbn-governors-in-nigeria-and-their-tenures/ An awesome timeline of CBN Governors. Just a quick one, Lamido Sanusi Lamido was suspended by the GEJ administration in February 2014 to pave way for Godwin Emefiele's entry 4 months later, just like Godwin Emefiele was suspended by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration in June 2023. Emefiele's suspension is NOT new but has a precedent. 2 Likes 1 Share |

The longer you have senior officer like they governor in office.it is suppose to reflect in better delivery. So it is not about how long he stayed but if emefiele now became corrupt or aligned with treasonable fellows then the outcome is what you will see. Summary emefiele was his own downfall In Finance there is a reason why they cap years of service. It creates too much opportunity to commit fraud. That fixed term is not because they want to share amongst tribes or because it’s political. You literally have too much money at your disposal and if you know your term is short, to be possibly audited by the next Governor, you will be cautious as a professional. This is why dictators act with impunity. They have too much time on their hands and opportunity 4 Likes 1 Share |

Emefiele is gonna come out strong out strong. He is gonna weather the storm and beard the lion
Look at Nigerians Celebrating the Arrest of a man way he intentions na to reduce vote buying and corruption
Statistics show that N2.72 trillion out of the $3.26 trillion currency in circulation as of June 2022 was outside the vaults of commercial banks across the country...imagine that na about almost 85 percent
So with the introduction of that new naira note policy corruption would have been tackled as the exercise will bring the hoarded currency into the banking system The new naira note was supposed to circulate to every nook and cranny of the country but greedy politicians like them tinubu connived and conspired with some bank managers to keep the money to themselves not only that some greedy Nigerians make the whole thing worse for us
We are doomed in this part of the Africa Nobody had a problem with his new naira note policy, we had a problem with him not making the new note circulate and allowing people suffer and businesses die. And you conveniently overlooked all the other things he did, like spending 100 million naira to purchase presidential nomination form, while still the Governor of CBN. Where did he get the money. Make it make sense bro. Let's not even get into all the other charges against him, it is very clear from that act alone that the man was very corrupt. And you're the one that is doomed, the country will bloosom in the next couple of months/years. 2 Likes |

He is the first CBN governor to buy nomination forms for a presidential election while in office. He brought the exalted office of CBN so low due to collusion with his principal, former President Buhari. It's a wise advice to resign instead of carrying out inane orders. Emefiele is more of a politician than an economist. He played into the hands of wrong people in the corridor of power. Emefiele definitely have a lot of times to makes things work better, rather, he made them worse by listening to some politicians. I hope, he will be able to provide answers to many questions that will be posted to him for clarification. |

He would have done better being a graduate of banking and finance and especially Economics( PhD), moreso as a Deltan / Bendel man as that is what Deltans are good at( ie Managing Financial matters: Banks, Journalism ( eg Newspapers and Law).
He didn't behave at all like a true Deltan boy in managing the CBN well.... I think staying too long made him see himself like a BOSS .....He took orders from PMB instead of advising him on wrong policies, he made many Nigerians suffer, even when he came in and saw some bad policies, he rather added more.... Till date, we can't easily send money via Western Union.... Our cards have limits for online payments and block abroad from withdrawals... Naira redesign wasn't necessary, though some closeby countries did theirs too and we don't know if it was IMF's rule to CBN....Exchange rate could have been single with possibly N100 difference between banks and BDCs but it became dual which of course will encourage a lot of round trippings and self aggrandizement, all these cannot be done by an Ika man alone who should be law abiding and peaceful so his people are waiting to hear plenty stories ....
That an ANIOMA man( Ika in particular) is involved in IPOB abi na Boko Haram sponsoring needs a lot of clarifications and his people are keenly watching the whole drama so it will seem they are quiet now..... Alot will be revealed from his trials and many exposed.... Keeping fingers crossed.
Deltans have successfully run banks over the years, but these days we see a lot of financial apps doing well from Yorubas that became necessary due to Emefiele's policies so, he created jobs in this regard and I don't think a new policy would come in that will make these ones irrelevant. It's shocking that an IKA man will be involved in Boko Haram activities. Let's wait and see the end of their investigation. 1 Like |
