DeLaRue:
I think taking these important decisions before appointing ministers is very smart.

If he had Ministers in place, he would have had to consult them, and the Ministers would also need time to consult senior civil servants within their ministeries.

While the so-called consultations are going on, the powerful business and political cabals will have thrown big money at the Ministers to try and frustrate any policy change.

Right now, the cabals have only a stubborn president to contend with and dem no born them to say pim.

Mr Tinubu is a political genius.

You Gerrit.

To me, the actual big deal is that he could do all this without the usual grounding of the country from the big boys of the industry benefiting from all this.

When Bloomberg praised Tinubu yesterday, they did not do that because he removed all these things but they specifically mentioned that he was able to maintain stability and peace after removal, something that usually lead to chaos whenever any government try to do that since 2003.

I think he was able to achieve this because he got lot of loyalists in all corners of society. From the street, business world, Labour world, trenches, politics, international community, and etc.

No president can get away with removing fuel subsidy & unifying exchange rate in 2 weeks without sparking massive protest that would have grounded the economy. Tinubu mandate is divine.
You are 1000% correct. That's why we need a leader That's trusted.

Subsidy removal is good on paper but too sudden, he should have watered the ground, put cushioning effects in place, work seriously to ensure FG refineries are working and then make them a joint venture partnership or lease them out, and coupled with Dangote own that will start operation in late 2024, Nigeria will have enough FX inflow and reduced dollar demand, by then he can start the floating of dollar.

At this point, FG would have enough dollar to supply to banks to sell to all Nigerians and CBN will mandate banks to open local ATMs to start making intl transactions, and by doing this, dollar won't shoot up to 1000 naira to 1 usd due to scarce supply and huge demand

I copied it directly from the link. Except if Nairametrics made some mistakes in their number.

https://nairametrics.com/2023/06/14/banks-told-to-trade-forex-freely-in-nigeria/
That could be a mistake on their part.
They must have discovered the error and withdraw it for correction, reason the link wasn't working again.

Try and edit that part out of your post as well.

You can re-copy and re-paste it once you get the correct one.

As a full blooded obidient, I must say Tinubu is taking good decisions so far. Buhari really set an all time low record. PO would do better but Tinubu still on good record so far.

Truth of the matter is that Tinubu and his ilk kicked against subsidy removal during Goodluck Jonathan regime to the extent of sponsoring the ojota occupy Nigeria protests

That Tinubu alone can kick against FG policy and make FG backtrack shows Jonathan is truly clueless.

We don’t need a weak president like that. If he can’t negotiate with the business leaders and get their buyin, who should Tinubu take the fall for his own cluelessness?

Anytime I hear people blame Tinubu for protest, who should Buhari then blame for those several month of prolonged strike from ASUU? Tinubu too?

I can’t change a post on front page. The mods themselves will need to change that.

Somebody explain to me

No, trade freely means that banks can sell at any price, not that they can sell to anyone, nor can they sell as much as they want. There's still some restrictions, only the price is no longer restricted.

The same people were the reason subsidy wasn’t remove when Jonathan tried to remove it. That’s the reason you see no one came out to protest.
If they have allowed it then by now we would have long forgotten it.

Make them just work. Make him remove NNPCL head. All zonal head of EFCC.
