Defection is done by writing a letter to the senate president who will then read the letter on the floor of the senate. Once the letter is read, he will declare their seats vacant immediately.

Again, impeachment is not a quick thing. Allegation must be made and committee set up for investigation. Then they need 73 senators to remove the senate president. So tell me, where will they get 73 senators?

You must think the impeachment is the same as Governor or his deputy's impeachment.

Impeachment in the legislature doesn't follow that committee shi.

Even members of the APC might join in the impeachment, nobody goes there for the masses benefit, just self

The problem is the law on defections has always been ignored over the years, and nothing will happen again this time

The rule is, a simple majority will be used to elect the Senate President & Speaker of the House, meanwhile, 2/3 majority will be required to remove him.

Remember, in 2015, when Bukola Saraki was elected as the SP with a simple majority, hence, APC needed just 2/3 majority of the House to unseat him but they could not have it. Recall, he defected to PDP together with his supporters, yet, PDP were still minority in numbers compared to APC but that does not mean that Saraki is not the SP of the NASS.

So, all the talk that they will cede the position back to NW will is just a Beer Parlour discussion.....

ignored because, the executives that ought bto have enforced it were always in good terms with those affected. It's a ddifferent ball game now.Even saraki dealt with Omo agege and some other senators just for saying what saraki doesn't like.

The Senate president has the final say on all matters and he can even rule that the minority has it against the majority in extreme circumstances. The threat of defection is just a media strategy to get juicy committees and nothing else.
