Therefore, if the 22 APC senators make good their threat, they will swell the number of the PDP to 58 while reducing that of APC to 37, thereby throwing up the PDP as the majority party in the Senate.

Orji Uzor Kalu & his junk newspaper! He can decamp to any party he likes and he will go back to the wilderness where he was, for many years, before APC rescued him from TA Orji.

As for the arrogant and overambitious Abdulaziz Yari, the APC will be a better place without him.

These senatorial morons know that the Senate would be resuming plenary and because they betrayed their party in Yari, they are afraid that they will not have good Committees allocated to them, hence using the useless and hardly-read Sun newspaper to drive useless narratives such as this!

No wonder Orji Uzor Kalu was sent to jail. With this reckless behaviour and greed for public office, with the equally shameless Abdulaziz Yari, these people deserve to be in jail.

Not in a situation like this. It has not been enforced because most times, opposition members always decamp to the ruling party or the party in control of the National Assembly leadership. Any defection that will turn the ruling party to a minority party with the prospect of a leadership change in the National Assembly will be resisted. Their seats will be declared vacant immediately. Trust me, they can’t pull this off.

Defection is done by writing a letter to the senate president who will then read the letter on the floor of the senate. Once the letter is read, he will declare their seats vacant immediately.

Again, impeachment is not a quick thing. Allegation must be made and committee set up for investigation. Then they need 73 senators to remove the senate president. So tell me, where will they get 73 senators?

No Chief...The Senate president can declare a seat vacant but they can go to court afterward to challenge it.
If you look at it, any senator that dies or leaves the Senate, it's the Senate President that declares the seat vacant and it's at that point Inec will conduct a bye-election within 90 days.
Its only in the case of death that the senate President can do such..otherwise its the courts that can declare a seat vacant.

The above is a bigoted analysis...we all know Obi was 60% regional candidate and 40% Christian candidate, while ATIKU was 70% regional candidate and 30% Islamic candidate. TINUBU stood out by being 30% Christian candidate, 50% Islamic candidate and 20% regional candidate.
Now you can see who was defaulting.

The Senate president can declare their seat vacant and it would be backed by the constitution and executive power which I'm sure the court will uphold the Senate president's decision.
