What one man paid over $40B for is being developed for less than 2.5% of that. Wicked.

What do you mean by infrastructure

Nairaland has been here a long time
Stagnant and focused on projecting hatred
The numbers are there

What exactly d you mean by infrastructure?

Do you see any money going back into Nairaland as reinvestment? Any vision?
Are the owners willing to dilute their ownership and employ quality people?

You don't have to start at the top but grow incrementally

Facebook and Google are currently the most effective spy agencies in the world.

I used DuckDuckGo search engine to look up something on the internet and it informed me Google Analytics was tracking my search but it has blocked it.

A collegue started watching WURA series on Showmax 2 days ago, now her Facebook timeline is filled with suggested posts about WURA.

Some internet peeps joke that if you think of buying iPhone 15 today, Google & Facebook Ads on your phone will be about iPhone 15.

Whoever cherish privacy should use Apple or any other product asides Google and its apps, and should be very paranoid about what they do on Facebook or any phone where it's products (like Instagram, Whatsapp and Thread are installed)

Duckduckgo censors your search and sells your data just like Google

They are based in the five eyes which they're quite sus for claiming they care about privacy

Use non pozzed search engines like Searx or Yandex

Android is more private than Apple

Apple wants each and every bit of your data
They want you stuck with them for life just like the way Coca cola wants their customers to be addicted to their sugary water

Exactly! Nairaland should have been way more than it is today. Africans and Nigerians in particular seem satisfied with little success.

As one of the earliest member of Nairaland, I am disappointed that Seun has not done much to improve the site in its 17 odd years of existence. The only update seun has done on the site were just cosmetic changes - changes in the colour and fonts of the site and that was done just once. He created a marketplace once called nairalist (I think), but it failed woefully, and quickly abandoned it.

With the fast pace of advancements in applications and technology within the past 10 years, Seun no try at all. Nairaland or a sister app should have entered the social media space by now or at least incorporate a chat app for members to communicate directly.

Nairaland and Reddit were founded in the same year, but look at where reddit is today.

Elon should quietly lick his wounds. He should be thinking of Jumping out of Twitter and accepting his losses. He cannot even sell Twitter for half the price he bought it.

Dudes ego made that wrong investment. He knew and backed off at some point, but his ego did not accept.

3m registered members since 2005...and out of that 3m, more than 10% have deactivated their accounts, 35% are no longer active...

These are not available in abundance here:
Advertisers
Loan
Angel Investors
Internet backbone, broadband.
Mobile telecom and digital communication suites, including applications.
Data centers and networks.
Enterprise portals, platforms, systems, and software.
Cloud services and software.
Operational security, user identity and data encryption.
The problem is that we Africans see our own products as inferior to the white.

Even if all these infrastructures are readily available, black people will never believe in their product enough to invest in it and compete with other races.

Infrastructure to scale up is no joke.

Data centers costs billions of dollars to maintain every year. No other country in the world can operate at that level that china and USA are operating, unless means of storing data becomes cheap.

Why do you think seun doesn't host videos etc on nairaland?

That will astronomically increased his bandwidth to host stupid videos and meme, yet he probably won't make enough to maintain it.
