The Ogun State chapter of New Nigeria People’s Party has advised the new commissioner of Police in the state, Abiodun Alamutu to stay away from people with questionable character so as to avoid doubt in his leadership. 

The party alleged that some suspected criminals are trying to associate with the new CP in order to evade justice in a court of law. 
Pictures of Mr. Abiodun Alamutu partying with two suspects, Olowu Olayemi Omokehinde and Kazeem Badmus were circulated on social media on Monday.
 
The two suspects are presently standing trial in a case instituted by the Commissioner of Police over allegations of conspiracy, malicious damage, and stealing of property belonging to Ogun NNPP. 

The suspects were reported to have invaded the party's secretariat located at Fajol House, car wash in Abeokuta, on May 12 by forcefully breaking and entering into the office of Sunday Oginni, the chairman of NNPP in Ogun state. 

The two suspects were accused of unlawfully damage of two standing fans, windows, doors, photo portraits, and padlocks all valued at N575,000 belonging to the complainant, Oginni.

They were also alleged to have stolen the sum of N7.5 million belonging to the complainant. 

But the suspects on one of their social media pages of KILAMUWAYE BADMUS uploaded a picture taken with the new CP with the caption; "Happening at the promotion party of Ogun State Commissioner of Police today 9/7/23". 

Reacting, the NNPP chairman in a terse statement, said it is an "affront and display of rascality for the CP to be seen partying with people facing criminal charges."

While advising the new CP to be careful of people he relates with, Oginni said the picture insinuated that the suspects are dining with their chief prosecutor. 

He noted, "I will advise the new commissioner of Police to be very careful with some of the unscrupulous people with questionable character who may want to one way or the other run away from the arm of the law because of their relationship with him.

"Personally, in the face of the law, he is the custodian of the law in Ogun State. The case which these two men are having is versus the commissioner of Police, and they have been arraigned on Friday. And for people to see them posting their meeting with the CP on Facebook is an affront and total disrespect for the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"The accused may implicate the CP who I think is not in the knowledge that he should not be with people who are facing criminal charges because you cannot be facing such charges and still be dinning and hugging the same CP that took you to court.

"They are facing charges of stealing, burglary, and malicious damages and the court is still putting them on trial. Why will the commissioner allow them to be with him?

"People that were docked on Friday were seen partying with the CP on Sunday, I think the CP is not aware of these people. What they are trying to do is to show that they have a relationship with the CP and showing the people they have stolen their money that they cannot get justice.

"It is condemnable and I think the CP needs to come out by issuing a statement to let us know he has no business with these people who are on trial.”
