Thinking about the amount of 'tithe' and ",offerings ' this will generate for you. If you have any shame, you would keep yourself away from the public sphere.

This group of people are the problems of their nation

Who will relieved the students, jobless, and the aged ones from the pangs of subsidies removal.

PBAT should increase the palliative to at least 50%/of the minimum waves.

Hi
Odibembem:

U think d President can on his own just increase minimum wage? What of the private sector, do u think they have d money to pay their least worker 100k? What of the self employed, u think once d presidemt says minimum wage is now 100k, their own income too will suddenly increase by 100k? Civil servants account for a small percentage of Nigerians, they alone cannot eat up our revenue
so what do you want president tinubu to do

Salary increment is not the solution
Govt should have price control on all goods and services

God bless you jare omo iya, na only your comment i find yet with sense, we said Nigeria has about only 370% of its population in the civil service so if they increase minimum wage, how would those who has what the civil servants have but lack opportunity benefit... price of food will also increase and the increase will be ineffective, when minimum wage was 18k, a bag of rice was about 12k, when they increase it to 30k, a bag of rice is 36k, if they increase it to 100k, i swear bag of rice go pass 100k.. now i understand that majority of those educated people in Nigeria are senseless... and here is a country where your lever of education is used to measure your capabilities.... rubbish

Doing so will lead to hyperinflation and many private businesses will find it very difficult to pay salaries like that. Just throwing money like that does not solve the problem, but will exacerbate an already bad situation and our currency will be further depreciated.

Life was a lot better when the naira was equal to the British pound and a lot stronger than the American dollar. People who studied abroad quickly returned home where life was more bearable. Just increasing the quantity of of something does not always add value. Today we have a lot of universities and a lot of graduates, but there is greater unemployment and the quality of a graduate in Nigeria is a lot diminished. We should make our currency a lot stronger, so we can have greater purchasing power in the world economy.

There is need to reorganize our political system, which only promotes the creation of a super rich, powerful and comfortable class at the expense of the masses without much consideration for the welfare of the common man in terms of welfare, infrastructure and adequate facilities necessary to make life worth the living.

Increasing minimum wage will benefit everyone. Traders have already increased the price of commodities but sales have dropped seriously because people don't have money to buy. Artisans and other service providers are complaining because of low patronage. Once salary is reviewed upwards, there'll be more patronage for service providers, traders and commercial motorists will make more money. That way, they benefit from the salary increase even though they are not salary earners. As for the unemployed, friends and family will ha6 more money to help them while they look for job. 8k is nothing

The most reasonable comment I've ever read on Nairaland. Kudos to you.

my own insight to this trend topic is let the government work on how food will be available and stop talking about #8000 parllative or #100000 minimum wage because all this step will bring an increase in the price of food in the market
refinery should be attended to faster

Bros it is not min wage increase that led to increase in bag of rice. haba!

The price had already increased way before min wage increment

The major reasons for the hike on the price of bag of rice then was continued naira devaluation and closure of all the borders.

seatdown there they talk devaluation.. and border closure .. so if they increase the min wage now, will they still not devalue Naira and still close borders? filthy excuse .... let them open the borders now instead of increasing min wage

Hope you have not forgotten that salaries of level 10 was once N1000? so how the hell did it get to close to N200, 000 now in 2023?

Is it not the same series of increment that you are here condemning?

Nawa for you

These present salaries are almost useless. The upward review is long overdue. With these current salaries people can no longer afford basic needs unless they embezzle public funds! We are talking about govt workers o shocked shocked

The current world economic system we are in is known as hikeonomics and inflationomics.

Listen, whether they increase min wage or not there will continue to be inflation (continuous increase in price of goods and services)

It just never comes down! Unless the value of naira stabilises. The CBN tried severally to arrest this double digits inflation all to no avail
All efforts turned out futile

you keep talking about salary salary, i dont really get it, are Nigerians paid every month? do the working class solve the hunger in the country ... maybe most members of your family are employed by fg, in my family, only one person is and he has just 4years to retirement..... we all have degrees and hnd so your family isnt better than ours... think about those families who dont have a job with fg or their state yet have all it takes to be employed..
