There is genuine and enough reasons to embark on strike immediately. It's really insensitive of the government to still do more to suffocate the poor

Why are they protesting?

The school fees hike will surely favour them.

Next time, if they are asked to vote wisely, they will go ahead and vote wisely.

If this administration is wise, they will call them for dialogue because any form of strike might be dangerous at the moment. There are so many people who are waiting for something that will trigger a strike to burn down the country.

I doubt fees won't have been increased if Obi was the one in Aso Rock.

Fees in Nigeria are low. The countries with good education fund them either by the kind of tax rates that would scare Nigerians, or by loans and grants, which students take to pay for their education.

Whoever is in Aso Rock, fees have to go up, or we beg IMF for more money.
Since fees in Nigeria is low, according to you, then there's no need to protest nah. If the police sights any protester, they should arrest them. Have you heard of sudan crisis? Thousands of Nigerians were enjoying very low fees in a well run and fully fortified university before the war started. Some were studying medicine and engineering courses there. Their fees were even much more lower than what most government universities pay here. Its almost free, even with feeding. That's how it should be in Nigeria as it was in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Government should heavily subsidise education to allow the children of the poor afford it, not by increasing fees. In Germany today, some Givernment schools offer full scholarships to international students. That's how it should be.

Those defending evil will have a share of it, no be curse.

They are increasing everything by hundreds of thousands of naira yet they want to transfer a paltry 8000k for their imaginary poor households? Wickedness is a Nigerian.

When serious people want to protest, they just go ahead and protest. They don't hold press conference first and threaten to protest. These ones are a bunch of unserious clowns

Nigerians and hypocrisy, same Nigerians will pay X3 in Ghana but want Nigeria's education to beat that of the UK & SA with the peanut we pay here for education. If education is too expensive try illiteracy pls undecided

The harsh truth is our fees are low. Let's not lie.

Also, having low fees hasn't made our universities better. It has made them worse. Years of paying N20000 fees has made everything bad, and given us generations of half baked graduates.

I am not a fan of tinubu, and if it was Obi in charge and he was increasing fees, I would fully understand why. The harsh truth is that years of low fees have given us bad universities, with bad facilities, and academics leaving the country for greener pastures.

And Sudan unis charge fees in the range of 900000 naira and above, probably higher for foreigners like Nigerians.

Oga, forget politics, unless you want to spend 26% of our budget on education, which we should, our universities are underfunded. Or would it take another ASUU strike under this government before you see it (and yes, ASUU is going to go on strike again...no be lie).

UN got 25 billion naira this year. Sounds a lot, until you realize that is just 31 million dollars. Some foreign universites spend up to 100 million if not more as budget, yet we think that with 31 million we can be like 100million university? Okay.

It should be a Nation wide protest.

It should cut across all Federal and State Schools.

If SUG wouldn't want to be in support of it, as we saw the President romancing with the President "elect" then, Students via departments WhatsApp groups should cordinate this all across the nation.

"Them no go kii us for everything for this Country"

School fees hike
Fuel Price hike
Electricity hike
Everything hike

Therefore it should be increased? Is it a crime if we have the cheapest education in Nigeria?

cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Sorry, I had to laugh, but seriously, you are right.

For some reason, Nigerians expect world class education on fees of less than 50000 naira, which is not up to 50 dollars, and expect their universities' to be well equipped like the foreign university.

Meanwhile abroad, university students pay for fees by loans and grants, or their parents pay for it by heavy duty tax rates.
