Supposedly SON. They are supposed to examine every single container that comes into the ports for Fake products. But with 40,000 naira (bribe money o) per countainer (based on personal experience) any given importer can circumvent the examination. What does that mean? It means that with your bribe money, anybody or anything can import anything or anybody even dead bodies into 9ja. Country bad no be small |

It should be SON but I don't think Nigeria have what it takes to maintain and check the importation of quality products into the country because Nigerian's are not discipline. |

FG is responsible for it. if proper consumer protect agency is setup, any malfunction electronics the manufacturer is responsible to repair it or replace if it cannot be repaired. it is not the marketers responsibility. |

prokure: That shop (the shop next to Samsung) is not affiliated with LG, although they do sell original LG products. The owner is just an importer who imports original LG products, and decides to set up shop using the LG brand name. How did I know? An LG employee told me so |

Lol. Soon and very soon we will get to know we are done for it. Imagine someone saying what's the difference btw the fake right? When you know is not of atleast 80% quality. Since it work right? That's why they bring it on. Nigerians would accept provided it works. In the US go check any good electronic gadget if u have any original or if u are opportuned to have a blackberry u will find a UL logo. Once UL certify any product then its good to go. But 9ja SON . I shake ma head cos 9ja is done for it. Let's hope and pray it get better soon. |

Nice topic guys, interestingly, there are a few goverment agencies and parastatals out there such as SON and CPC who are supposed to regulate and moderate the incidence on these substandard/fake products. However, we shouldn't just throw the whole blame at the government because, we, the consumers have a fair share of the blame as well. In fact, the average Nigerian consumer is always looking out to buy products at a ridiculously low price, even when such a price seems too good to be true. Hence, this thirst for "ultra-low" price makes us gullible and readily fall prey to merchants of these substandard/fake products. There is need for consumers to be more realistic and reasonable in their pricing, when a product is too cheap, you are either buying a stolen or substandard/fake product.
