Methink it is actually a frantic face-saving diplomatic call by US and the west to reach out to strategic African leaders who were not physically present at the Russia-Africa summit currently holding in Russia. That summit is giving the west chills and they are throwing everything including the kitchen sink at it to undermine Russia. That Nigeria, SA were there is a huge concern to them.
