I wonder what the fighter jets and military helicopters are used for. Well, may we all not be victims of insecurities.

They are in use, but there is always the risk of collateral damage.

Bandits don't play by the rules. They will use their captives as human shields if necessary. And when the government attacks and captives die, people would blame the government. Not the bandits

It's a lose lose situation

there is an organized crime ongoing against food production, food transportation and food distribution network in Nigeria today and the federal government is either unaware or playing along for political expediency.

from the buhari years, miyetti allah, a fulani farmers/ herders and land grabbing association has began their incursions into food and farming activities seeking to gain power and authorities over pricing and delivery of agriculture products into the Nigerian local markets and thereby various homes.

this miyetti allah seeking controlling power over the agricultural food production in the northern Nigeria and the distribution to the southern states of Nigeria. people are being killed because of this and farmers are often times denied access to their farms.

foodstuffs buyers from the southern states that often go to the northern states can no longer go because of death and armed robberies that often accompanying such ventures. this is the real wither Nigeriana.

if misrule does not break Nigeria maybe hunger will.

Are you from the south? Never been to the north?

Hmmm.... you can drive 1hour straight in some places in the north and not see anything other than forest. Trees, vast lands, and farms. 100 people can be kept in those places and no one will hear a word

Are you saying it's possible to kidnap 100 people without detection by our security agencies. I mean a helicopter or simple drone can easily spot their location.

Bush my dear. Inside thick forest. That's the type of kidnapping tactics that made it successful.
It is well planned organisation now. Most of these kidnappers are far from natives. The migrate from neighbouring countries and since they have similar languages and grassroots like ancient nomads, they hardly being rejected by others. They are part and parcel of the natives now. So it makes them easier to blend well.
Again, some government officials are on their payrolls especially during negotiations. Sweet business, easy money.
Only sensible explanation is they are in collocation with security agencies & government officials.

You forgot to add Davido. They are more concerned about the music video Davido made, according to northern muslims, it is more serious than the killings and abduction going on in the north.

Kidnapping is everywhere in Nigeria, even inside the FCT people are kidnapped talkless of villages and farmlands. Soon out of every 10 people, 3 must have been kidnapped.

May God help us all & keep us from evil.

And that is the question!

I was always wondering how anyone can hide the train victims anywhere without telltale signs. Someone must've seen them, someone must've provided logistics and resources including food, fuel, medicine. Even with a consumer drone you can scout out likely encampments based on easy access to resources and phone networks.

The truth is one or all of the following:

1. The security agencies know where they are but are ill-equipped to fight them

2. The security agencies know where they are but are mostly complicit

3. The security agencies are so woefully inept that they have no idea how to track and confront the bandits

Since bandits won't allow people to farm in the north, the federal government should all food import from the neighbouring countries to come in so that will reduce scarcity of food stuff

That happens unfortunately only in the developed world. In Nigeria, yes its possible to move 100 people from one local government to another except in highly militarised regions like maiduguri now.

But in a place like jigawa or bauchi, yes it is.
