Former Chief Executive Officer of Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC), Jim Obaze has been appointed as a special investigator to probe the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Related Bodies.

This was contained in a letter dated July 28, 2023 and personally signed by the president, Bola Tinubu.

According to the letter, Obazee is to work with relevant security and anti-corruption agencies to deliver on the task, while briefing President Tinubu weekly on progress made.

"In accordance with the fundamental objective set forth in Section 15(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), this administration is, today, continuing the fight against corruption by appointing you as a Special Investigator, to investigate the CBN and Related Entities.

"This appointment shall be with immediate effect and you are to report directly to my office.

“The full terms of your engagement as Special Investigator shall be communicated to you in due course but, require that you immediately take steps to ensure the strengthening and probity of key Government Business Entities (GBEs), further block leakages in CBN and related GBEs and provide a comprehensive report on public wealth currently in the hands of corrupt individuals and establishments (whether private or public).

“You are to investigate the CBN and related entities using a suitably experienced, competent and capable team and work with relevant security and anti-corruption agencies to deliver on this assignment. I shall expect a weekly briefing on the progress being made.

“Find attached, herewith, my directive suspending the Governor of the CBN from office with effect from 9th June 2023," the letter read.

It's better to investigate all.

It's sickening, dangerous and seriously worrisome to hear and read that Mr Emefiele is being investigated for terrorism financing. The allegation that CBN, under Emefiele used our CBN money and resources to fund the outlawed IPOB that burnt down Lagos is sickening and must be thoroughly investigated to confirm it this serious allegation is true.

The direction of Tinubu’s government is becoming clear.

Hire Asari Dokubo’s private Army to provide security, and relegate the statutory security agencies to the background.

Then hire a private investigator to probe the CBN and relegate EFCC to the background.

Alpha Beta will soon replace FIRS. It’s a matter of time.

And for those in doubt, you have your evidence below 👇.

Not bad. US did the same when they hired George Mueller to probe the possibility of Trump's collusion with Russia during 2016 elections.

Omo Igbo, appointing a special investigator is not new or strange. It happens in all presidential democracies.

Special counsel Robert Muller was appointed to specially investigate Russia intervention in US 2016 election while Special counsel John Smith is currently investigating the January 6 invasion of US Capitol.

This is a good development that should be encouraged. No need criticizing what you don’t understand.
