descartes400: Take time to open the link you shared and read. Jama added that, under the agreement, part of the debt would be immediately written off while part would be subject to a rescheduling of payments. Let Somali come out and tell you what fraction of the $684million owed Russia was cancelled . The more laughable thing is you expecting Russia as cash strapped as they are to go ahead and create an $8billion dollar nuclear facility in Niger Republic because of Uranium deposits, a mineral Russia itself has in abundance and mines. 3 Likes |

Curse777: I didn't vote for Tinubu but i know the danger of military rule. Civilian rule no matter how bad is always better. I support Tinubu and ECOWAS decisions on this matter 100%. No to Military rule. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. As long as no be Angel Michael dey head the Military coup it's a no for me. Human beings are the same. The military itself will be corrupt and the 'Bloody Civilians' won't be able to even complain. |

Acekidc4: The supply of power to Niger by Nigeria is not an act of benevolence but rather a wise move to avoid a situation in which Niger puts one or two Hydro-Electric dam across the River Niger as it flows through their country before entering into Nigeria. Such dam by Niger will affect the utility of the Niger River for our own Hydro-Electric power plans. If Niger has the backing of Russia and somehow survives anything we through at them now, when they dam the Nigeria River in Niamey or elsewhere it will not be a pleasant experience for us at all. Nigeria needs to approach this matter with caution and wisdom. Whatever battles you fight, try to project or envision the various possible end results before you go and commit yourself. 1 Like 1 Share |

MRMRMR:3rdly, they don't have nearby Water to cool down the Reactors. Check all Nuclear power plants all over the world are built near the Sea or Ocean for easy cooling. Even though they may be banking on the river Niger, it will get contaminated with radioactive elements and make the water unsafe for them and whole of west africa. 1 Like |

Phraences: Either Russia or China can take up a project to build Hydro-Electric dam for Niger. It is not a direct move or aggression against Nigeria particularly when Niger has electricity challenges. And it is difficult for Nigeria to argue that the project should be stopped for any reason. That is why Nigeria has been providing electricity to Benin and Niger Republics all these years to avoid a situation like that. |

WriterNigg: Do you think building a nuclear power plant is the same thing as building a Lego castle? I get that you support Russia; I do, too , objectively. On the flip side, I see no reason why ECOWAS should ostracize Niger given that majority of Nigeriens appear to be in support of the military coup. Nigeria should thread carefully lest she finds herself enmeshed in a regional cinflict with her closest neighbour. |

casualobserver: I wonder the school you people attended or you all just want to prove ignorant by spreading a false story. Even if Niger build a hydro dam which they can't even build in 10 years time cos they are very poor, they are not the one in charge of the river cos the source is from guinea so the Guinea which is a good friend of Nigeria can cut off both Mali and Niger ,Besides 80 to 85 percent of Nigeria electricity comes from gas turbine not hydro... The hydro can only supply 700mw to 750mw.... So we can do without the dam... Do you just think sanctions just happen without clear planed thoughts... Russia could stand sanctions because they are self sufficient to some extent... Venezuela, Cuba, Iran and so on were still under ground from sanctions let alone a very poor country like Niger. At least if you don't know things. It isn't bad to do some research. Simple. 1 Like |

Even if Niger build a hydro dam which they can't even build in 10 years time cos they are very poor, they are not the one in charge of the river cos the source is from the golf of guinea ... the Guinea which is a good relations of Nigeria can cut off both Burkina Faso and Niger from the river... ,Besides 80 to 85 percent of Nigeria electricity comes from gas turbine not hydro... tuzle: Please explain how they are not landlocked... Let me guess through the river Niger that pass through onisha right... The same river that passed through the south south to the Atlantic and anything that makes the north dam that river in different dimentions it will be seasonal drought.. even with or without that, they are completely landlocked with the south south surrounding them. Or maybe your definition of free land is when something is in the middle. Well if east is not landlocked then Niger is not landlocked too... |
