Let me clarify about Peugeot 504. PAN continued making Peugeot 504 in Nigeria, when other countries had stopped producing, it for specific reasons.

The original goal of the 1969 auto conference was to produce a Made In Nigeria car. Bedford had been doing CKD since 1959, but Gowon wanted a completely made in Nigeria car. Peugeot took this challenge very seriously.

They had been increasingly sourcing parts in Nigeria and they kept the public informed about it. So you'd hear announcements like 70% made in Nigeria, 80% made in Nigeria, etc.

You could win a 504 if you hit a hole in one at the Nigerian golf tournament at Ikoyi Club in the 1980s. It was heavily marketed.

Peugeot had a joint venture with the Nigerian Gas Company (a subsidiary of NNPC) to produce a Peugeot 504 that ran on gas (1989). There was a lot of publicity about it, but NGC did not fulfil its part of the obligation (there were no filling stations equipped with gas dispensers).

It seems Nigeria was still running fine in the 80's, everything started falling apart in the 90's in my own opinion.

NNPC is all about corruption, irresponsible, incompetence. Big shame that Nigeria has no working refinery and still flaring gas till today. Big shame that nobody knows how much NNPC makes from sell of crude. Bigger shame when you compare the progress their counterparts are making in their respective countries. #DisbandNNPC

Why were these policies and modalities not set into motion by Buhari since 2021 so that by 2022 or early 2023, we will be reliant on CNG then fuel subsidy can be removed.

Why commencing this policy that as they said will be completed early next year ? Why put the cart in front of the horse instead of horse in front of cart? This thing should had been done and concluded before subsidy was removed.

Our misleaders like to suffer us. This is how they came about with new currency and cashless policy that they made no provisions for.

This is commendable but damnly late.

Unnecessary sufferings will be created.

While I agree with you , the labor union also needs to share a blame , they sat mute when buhari was passing final budget to end subsidy by June, they didn't ask him all these questions about the plans to give Nigerians alternative energy , now they are running up and down making demands and protesting, I have discovered Nigerians are the most unserious set of people in the world .

i understand you. Same problem ASUU have. They’ll sit and fold their hands while new national budget for education is passed and education in the budget has very paltry sum, one of the least. Later midway into the year they’ll start striking. If they partake in the budget planning they can raise their budget substantially but no! They’ll be busy at that point sorting.

My brother ! Very unserious set of people , we really lack synergy in our political space, if you go to the usa all these labor groups have lobbyist permanently residing in Washington to push their needs , but here in Africa, unions will sit down, and be assuming politicians will think of them , its crazy .

Is there a deliberate action to sideline Innoson and other local Vehicle Assembly companies in Nigeria ?

This value chain of the conversion process done locally is enourmous.

it’s fantastically crazy. Thereby causing Labor commotion after the budget has been prepared and passed. Coming after the food has been shared to claim your meat was small. Why were you when it was being shared? You’ll now be stressing unnecessary students with strike.

Price of intercity transportation eg from Lagos to Asaba or Onitsha is expensive compared to Cameroon for same distance though price of intracity is cheaper in Nigeria but in Lagos may be the same because of Agberos.

Hoping this CNG thing will force transportation cost downwards..... Another is road safety especially at night( if ever this resumes again).
