WE NEED TO STOP THIS NONSENSE!!!
The job descriptions, as well as the offered remuneration, are nothing short of an embarrassment and raise serious questions about the employment practices in our beloved country.

As a nation that prides itself on growth and development, it is disheartening to see companies taking advantage of qualified professionals by offering meager salaries for crucial roles in infrastructure development. These roles play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Nigeria, and it is only just and fair that they are compensated accordingly.

It is imperative to condemn such practices by companies that not only undermine the importance of these roles but also perpetuate a cycle of underpayment, hindering the overall growth of the engineering and construction sectors in Nigeria.

I call upon all companies and HR professionals to review their recruitment policies and prioritize fair wages for all job categories.

To International Companies in Nigeria especially IOCs, Nigeria, like any other nation, deserves to be treated as an equal player in the global economy. It is time for international companies to recognize and respect the local talent, expertise, and qualifications of Nigerian professionals. Paying them fair and competitive wages is not just a matter of ethics; it is a vital step towards promoting sustainable growth and prosperity in the country.

For the Engineering field, The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, As the regulatory body responsible for overseeing the engineering profession in Nigeria, take swift and decisive action to address this alarming issue and the relevant labor authorities in Nigeria must intervene in this matter. Labor regulations must be enforced to protect the rights of employees and to ensure that workers in all sectors receive just remuneration for their work.

In 2012, 200 - 250 K NGN was Direct Staff Graduate Trainee salary in Major Banks while Oil and Gas Majors goes to about 850K NGN for direct staffs.

The fact is that many indegious company especially in Civil and Real Estate by then salary was largely 40-50 K NGN Monthly.

It’s difficult to want to become an Engineer when one band ambassador’s deal from MTN or Content creator or MC or Music could give you more. @mynd44 push this to FP. We need to engage to change this narrative.

I see jobs being undervalued in nigeria too much as well. This is mean to be a FP piece for engagement.
