There’s something you must give to the Yorubas.
Hard work and value for women

Back to the ancient times, the Yoruba culture empower their women. Yoruba culture is among the very few in Africa that allowed women in their political affairs. Women were allowed in the palace and played leadership roles. From Iyaloja, Olori.
They also played significant roles in traditional religion, they were keepers of the shrine.
Even Yorubas acknowledged the women as spiritual gifts such Awon-iya.
There were yoruba goddesses such as Yemoja, Osun,

We even had Yoruba female warriors such as Moremi

In when it comes to hard work. Hard work is embedded in the culture.
So many Alos, folklores all centered around the reward of hard work

Yorubas will say “Ise ni ogun ise” hard work is the medicine for poverty.
Yorubas will teach their children the benefits of hard-work and humility in life.
They will say “ Ti isu eni ba ta, ama fi owo bo “ meaning you don’t announce your success but stay humble.
So many Yoruba folklores sing about the benefits of working hard.
They will sing “
Ise agbe, ni Ise ile wa,
eni ko sise. Ama ja le”

Check the Anthems of southwest states, it is all about working hard and not staying lazy or idle

Well the results are clear. No wonder southwest remains the most prosperous region in Nigeria
And the wealthiest African women are Yoruba women
