Afang soup is a dish that is culturally recognized and appreciated by the Southern parts of Nigeria, mostly the Ibibios and Efiks. Though this dish may have stemmed from the southern part, it has become a widely enjoyed meal in almost every tribe in the country.

This dish is known not just for its peculiarly thrilling taste but also for its medicinal purpose. One might need to be careful when preparing this particular dish as the method of preparation requires careful attention

This vegetable soup from the southern part of Nigeria is rich in protein, especially seafood such as crab, periwinkle, prawns and whatnot, but the most important and key ingredient for making the soup is the vegetables. Known for its many names across African countries, the Congos call it 'Fumbua or Koko', the Cameroonians refer to it as "okok' or 'm'fumbua', and Nigerians call it Afang, Okazi. But the English name for this vegetable is Wild Spinach or Wild vegetable.
