It was sponsored by an obvious person for his selfish political reason. Very soon those who are sponsoring Boko Haram and killer herdsmen will be exposed.

They just wanted GEJ out at all cost......

And no one is saying that the GEJ government should not have been voted out in 2015.

It was underperforning and had to go but the reality of several points of governance were lost in the process.

What this admission clearly states is that governance and politics were completely mixed and misunderstood.

In a democracy that lacks ideology policies must be taken objectively.

For heavens sake the debate about fuel subsidy that led to the strike was that costs were going up and corruption was rife in the process.

The GEJ government admitted to that and their solution was to remove it. No one then that protested for it's retention offered any alternate solution to retain it at a lower public cost or a solution to the corruption.

And that is why the corruption contunued in the Buhari regime and the cost completely got out of hand despite a smaller economy and several global economic hindrances.

I've been expecting one of APC chieftain to be courageous enough to speak this truth for long. APC deceived us all with the "OCCUPY NIGERIA" ptotest against President Jonathan's proposed removal of fuel subsidy just to win election. If subsidy was removed then, we would have been better off now but look at where we are today. It's so unfortunate.

BAT, Buhari, Tunde Bakare & APC need to apologise to Nigerians regarding the 2012 protests.

The failure to remove subsidy then is what practically led Nigeria into this current mess.

Now that it is finally gone, how is the government making use of the savings for the good of the populace and what measures are in place to fix the moribund refineries?

All these and more should take center stage in Tinubu's administration.

Also, why is Dangote refinery not working yet? Does the capitalist want Petrol to match diesel at 850 before he starts producing?

What about the uneducated educated Prof Woke Soyinka who was making a hell of a noise because of mere crumbs from Tinubu

You people should stop name calling when important national issue that affect the welfare of Nigerians is mentioned, every regions have their own bad eggs, insurgency in north east, banditry in north west and north central, yahoo yahoo in south west, ipob in south east and and militancy in south south. But when someone talks, you people will be quick to call him or her ipob, is ibo no more part of Nigeria. This is the tactics being used; divide and rule that make our rulers not leaders to continue to break our laws with impunity, let unit and fight our common enemy. What Dr. Fayemi said calls for deep thinking and way out to ensure policies and opposition to policies were carried out for the benefit of generality of people and not only the political class.

I do not agree with fayemi on this, the entire country rose against the idea because we never understood the need for it. ACN only took advantage of people's ignorance of the idea. People like Falana, Wole Soyinka and some other prominent Nigerians who were not politicians were part of the movement then.

Yes! Politicians may have joined the protests to gain political traction, but saying the protest was organised by politicians is just madness... From time immemorial, Nigerians have always rejected fuel price increase, moreso it was a sudden 120% hike in pump prices on January 1st when many were still away for xmas.
