There is a reason why if you go to any desert, in the toughest of conditions, be it Afghanistan or Nigeria or Sahara you will find hilux and not Ford Explorer or GMC. BTW Tacoma is simple the American version of the hilux with coil springs for comfort instead of rear leaf suspension. It is not as tough as the hilux because of this.

My brother is had one around for 18 years now despite not being the first owner,the first owner had used it for 10 years. The car is still pumping.
