It is obvious that to provide the highest level of customer service, employees should pay attention to customers and show that they’re accessible and available to clients who come in the door but with a cell phones at work policy in place, employees have guidelines for when they can take breaks and check their phones for calls, texts, social media or news. This reduces distractions and makes the workplace more productive. If cell phones make your employees more productive and to the interest of your customers as below, write policies that acknowledge their use for work while requesting that they use common sense to avoid distractions instead of locking up theirs phones during working hours. This is inhumane in this generation, phone is integral part of modern people life.
How many of you people remember what lead to ENDSARS? Is just searching of phone talk more of denying someone his or her phone for 8hours. This is very sha*meful.

While calling the friend of hers that works at customer service section, she could have called the official line too, I'm sure someone is there to pickup the call, also message them on social media.
I see no reason to call a single line continuously for 20times abi na 10+20times when you are in a state of emergency

You should have called UBA customer service care and not a staff. Many Banks don't allow their front desk officers to be with their phone while working. This is to allow them to be fully concentrate on customer's service and for security reasons. Very sorry for your loss, try and report the case to police.

You called her as a friend not as a customer, the time you called her is for her banking hours ,if you happened to be the customer in her front and she picks her phone to be talking about personal matters will you be Happy.

Nigerians can be funny. Always looking for unofficial shortcuts to everything. Instead of using the official phone line, they request the personal number of the customer support staff and start disturbing those ones when they have any slight issue.

The customer support staff is meant to attend to your issues within the banking hall. If you have any issues outside the banking hall or outside work hours, call the dedicated line for customer enquiries.

Nigerians and their shitty sense of entitlement.

UBA ain't at fault

You called the personnal line of a staff. You were wrong.

You should have simply called their customer care. Even with just USSD code you can block your card or freeze your account temporality.

The same ugly attitude that kept the country in its present state. There are official channels for reaching the bank in case of such eventualities but no, why do so when I know someone at the top. Better go and leave with the consequences of your decision

Honestly, you could have gone to the nearest UBA branch or search for how to block UBA card after theft. It could have helped. Sorry for your lost though. It's painful.

Same you will come online to write epistle if a customer service person attending to you in a branch keeps answering her phone. undecided undecided

On the topic, there are official lines for such calls that are available 24hrs, there are Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram handles as well. There's even ussd codes for blocking your acct. Familiarize yourself with your bank's emergency handles and do well to use such next time.

She waited to call 20 times whe she could have located the nearest branch or check their customer care number online

She was not proactive enough, besides it’s not only UBA, opts all banks, especially if you are in the customer care section or the teller section, people in the teller section even submit their phones and other valuables to their superiors, it may be old school but it is what is it
