I told them, this man asked Buhari to print more currencies and employ 50 thousand youths into the Nigerian army and feed them with agbado and pay them nothing.

They said he graduated with first class in accounting. Now, he floated the naira and give it a free way access....

You don't get what the other guy was saying? He sees cutting imports duty as a panacea to rising import costs. Import costs rose due to fall of naira.
If you imported a car for 3m and paid 35% import duty, that's about 1.3 but when naira falls by over 200%, the same car comes in for about 6.5m and the same 35% is now around 3m which was the cost of the car previously.
That's why I'm asking the point of floating the naira if you're still going to reduce import cost.
It's same mistake with subsidy removal cum deregulation and floating naira. It's like hitting the and spot with two different hammers. Tinubu's govt expected the black market and official rates to converge to 700 or below after floating, meanwhile they asked fuel importers to go source for dollars at black market to import fuel. If you know you're going to ask marketers to look for dollars (which in effect means you're not willing to fund their dollar demands like you do with NNPCL) why ask them to go import fuel?
Those logic hurts the economy worse than the forex restrictions in place during the time of Buhari

Tinubu is economically senseless. Those of us who were objective enough saw through the charade that was the deceptive cloak of efficiency he wore during the campaigns. Lagos had long been structured in a way where it enjoys the monopoly of Nigeria's commercial benefits, so any average politician can govern it and achieve results. A dunce like Ben Ayade of Cross River would have looked like a genius had he governed Lagos.

But people refused to understand this. The intricacies of the Nigerian society are woven in such a way that it will require actual economic intelligence and dexterity to "unpuzzle". That fool in Aso rock knows absolutely nothing about what he's doing there!

You increased cost of clearing! It’s not just the exchange rate that was the problem. Cost of clearing increased without notice. Why didn’t you talk about that?

Shut up and stop saying nonsense ignorantly.
Nigeria is not lazy.
We produce CRUDE OIL AND MANY AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE, which is enough for any nation to thrive well with good governance.
Don't allow the west to deceive you with saying Nigeria is not producing anything.
Saudi Kuwait, UAE, Oman etc are living large and they're also basically producing crude oil

Most people knew
Most people did not vote for him. Those who did voted based on tribal, religious or other socal affiliations.
No one does not know that he was an average gov when he held sway in Lagos.
But in truth, I never expected him to be this bad. But his main problem was pandering to Western interests thinking that will fetch him much needed FDI and international rep he coverts. It's what also led to his ill-advised threat of invasion of Niger.
All in all, I think he's come to realise the West are not really in need of allies or lapdog in Africa anymore. They no longer care like they once used to.

Alot of Nigerians don't understand how bad our economy is, they think its just to build roads and start farming etc.
Nigeria's economy needs a complete overhaul and the measures taken yet are just the beginning.
More hardship is on the way but like the saying the darkest hour is just before dawn, Nigeria's dawn is almost here, we just have to endure the darkness a little longer.

Firstly, the naira was not really floated against the dollar, they just pegged it at the current dollar rate at the time which alleviated the pressure on the naira at the time, but like some of us were advising then, it doesn't really solve the issue of fx unavailability long term as we see now with the black market rate rocketing to over 1,000.
Secondly, what exactly is being done that makes you believe that the darkness is almost over? I'm not gunning for a fight honestly, just really curious

Your sense of reasoning if you have one is as useless as APC. Building of Roads and Agricultural production improves dying economy. APC monetary policies is worst than everything evil, if not so; what good or progressive change have you seen in APC policies from inception?

Nope this your beer parlor analysis.
Once imported cars reduce drastically, people will be forced to use other means. Is either you purchase locally made cars or use public transport or enter train if you reside is Lagos. Which is a win win for the economy. Importers are killing the economy, let that sink in.
You no get sense.

Because you want to defend BAT read what you post again.

What to do differently.
Let's fuel price be N300 . Pay have the subside
The previous government were paying the economy was better. Let nobody deceiv you.

When our refinery begin to work, I will now implement full subside..

Note. Nothing will change in this country if the cost of fuel remain this high.

Point 2.

According to you, citizens should change attitude. How about government changing their attitude.

The naira was 470 before BAT took over, now it's 1000. The question is why did he float the naira? When we are only importing. He is taking wrong decisions but because you are not wise you think he is doing well and should not be criticize.

If you don't know criticizing him is our own contribution to the growth of the economy.

What police have he implement to bring down the price of naira or fuel since he assumed office.

He is just busy traveling.

Floating the Naira was the right thing to do despite the present teething problems.

One way to assist importers is to slash import duty on cars. It is quite high. It shouldn't be more than 20%

The plan was poorly executed, so much cluelessness around it, no proper planning, just empty braggadicio with no tact. Of course propaganda is not an economic policy.... We are learning the hard way

Oga this comment is a very useless comment. Same thing was said about Buhari and his dumb policies..... Propaganda is not an economic policy and you can't mix economic policy with corruption and still expect result. That is basically why Buhari failed woefully. This new government is actively moving in same direction... No proper planning, no idea, no proper execution.... Just a mix of policy/propaganda/corruption /bigotry... The exact Buhari template.

We also heard this shit during IBB austerity measures, has Nigeria been better since then? You can't implement two economic measures at the same time in a dying economy, you do one first before you start another one. Had it been that our refinery has been upgraded to a certain capacity, then remove subsidy or partial subsidy, then, what for a year and 6months before floating the naira people would have had a breathing space without over hypa inflation. You cannot just wake up and announce subsidy is gone without putting measures, even most export based economy is yet to float their currency is it now Nigeria that doesn't produce anything talk more of exporting anything apart from crude will now float their currency and expect to be fine.
