Stop posting rubbish. We have had floods in Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans, and many other parts of the US from time to time. My neighborhood in Atlanta has flooded before when it rains too much. Lagos is very close to the Ocean and probably below sea level; hence, it's very prone to flooding.
No one is saying that Lagos and Nigeria's infrastructure is up to par, but people need to stop posting trash about "sane climes". Shit happens all over the world on a daily basis. Most of these "sane climes" mumus have never even left their villages before to see the world.

If this quantity of rain falls in Lagos, na ocean Lagos go be. Stop this unnecessary comparison because the quantity of rain that causes flooding in Lagos is not the same with that of New York.

Stop posting rubbish. Go and tell that to your people who have never left their villages. Lagos gets way more rainfall than NY on any given day, week, and year. New York gets 46 Inches of rain yearly, while Lagos gets 61 inches of rain on a yearly basis. Lagos is closer to the Equator.
Some of you just come here to post rubbish. The only city close to Lagos situation in the US is New Orleans and that one gets flooded easily with devastation effects.

Thank GOD somebody brought this here. Nigerians critisizes the government and the residents FOOLISHLY as if FLOOD only affect us alone. And what's so hilarious is SOMEONE WHO PRIDE HIM/HERSELF OF HAVING TRAVELLED ACROSS EUROPE AND AMERICA claiming such is only as a result of our government poor drainage planning and that it doesn't come up in his/er imaginary SANER CLIME.
The way this people run around to attack LAGOSIANS/LAGOS for stuff like this （without considering its low proximity to water level and the torrent rainfall often synonymous to places surrounded by water like the southwest state） deserves a devoted study to understand some PATTERN OF HATE

The jokes.

I'll explain the New Amsterdam joke. Dutch people were among the earliest European settlers in the area and they named the place New Amsterdam (of course the British later took over the area and named it New York). Amsterdam is famous for its canals, which act as streets in some places and its boats which act as taxis.

The 3rd picture: Yes, that is a picture of a man riding a jet-ski on a street. The street is so flooded that he can ride a jet-ski on it (there are also pictures of people paddling boats and rubber rafts.
