Abia, Like The Rest Of The SE Is Landlocked by yoruboid: 9:34pm On Sep 30, 2023 |
If you think it’s not then you need to take a class in geography as it is clear the governor is on a wild goose chase except he partners with adjoining states that have access to the sea You will need to go through the territories of Cross River, Akwa Ibom or Rivers to access the sea Would Niger Republic claim it’s not landlocked because it can access the sea through River Niger? There are only 8 states in Nigeria with sea coastlines and they are - - Lagos - Ogun - Ondo - Delta - Bayelsa - Rivers - Cross River - Akwa Ibom Below is the map of Abia. Please show me the coastline 7 Likes 2 Shares

Access to river is different from access to Ocean. Now i get. The South East from map view has access to rivers, but not the ocean 3 Likes |

Mumu, you can't have direct access to ocean and still be landlocked. Envious sadwasted skull mining ritualists. Spits! 33 Likes 1 Share

BrodaBenad: Niger Republic also has a waterway to the ocean so what’s your point? Does it mean they can dredge through River Niger without Nigeria’s permission and access the Atlantic Abia cannot access the sea without the permission of the coastal states 6 Likes 1 Share |

Obi2saveNigeria: Certainly Niger Republic can make the same claim. Of course you lack comprehension 8 Likes 4 Shares

yoruboid: You are right. SE is totally land locked and theres nothing like access to the Ocean from the maps view. Thise state wont grant permission for such large scale dredging under any condition 6 Likes 2 Shares |

yoruboid: You don't know anything! The Imo river in question is a boundary between Abia, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states. If you have functional brain, you will know it's a common use river and not under control of any of the states. 21 Likes |

They're treating South East like a country already even when he is still part of Nigeria. Do you know why Etopia cannot dam the Nile? If you figure it out then you will figure out why coastal states cannot lay claim of the sea. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Foolish bigot why not go and stop the project to buttress ur point that igboland is actually landlocked? Enemies of the igbo nation will all definitely be disappointed at the end of the day their evil wishes and evil agenda will never come to pass. 20 Likes 5 Shares |

Geography and history are seriously lacking among the people of the yeast. If they understood geography well enough plus history that comes along with the territory, they won't be using Microsoft Paint to overstep their boundaries. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

paramakina202: Every one has indirect access to the sea. Even Niger Republic. But that doesn't make Niger a coastal nation. Even Cross River is no longer a coastal state as it does not open directly to the Atlantic Ocean. SE is landlocked. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

RevDesm0ndJuju:It's just a white elephant project. It's just too thin and shallow for anything meaningful to use this river. Dredging this canal would not make any difference. 5 Likes 1 Share |

raskymonojendor: And they think people in the lower Niger will allow the mouth of this river to be dredged knowing fully well the potential hazard of sea encroachment up stream. This is not the first time dredging of river estuaries has been proposed and they not knowing why it has never be done given the serious negative environmental impact that awaits when dredging the silt ridden river mouth as it meets the Atlantic. Whenever fresh water meets the sea, silt build up is guarrantteed. Dredging the silt build up leads to sea water encroaching deeper inland which in turn will erode inland river coastlines and destroy habitats. This proposal to dredge the River Niger up to Onistha has been fiercely opposed by SS communities and states alike. Pic below is of silt build up when fresh water meets the sea. The best that can happen is having barges carry cargo from deeper ports inland. But this is not efficient when compared to rail transport. 3 Likes 2 Shares

@Yoruboid, why do you feel there is a need for such a provocative thread? Did you go after Buhari when he expanded oil exploration to Borno? Come on man, you can put your intellectual gifts to better use instead of fuelling bush fires you would ultimately have no control over. 14 Likes 5 Shares |
