Good afternoon Nairalanders,

I'm just thinking, why do most wealthy people send their Wives abroad to give birth?

But they have money and mostly everything to aid the child to a better future, why not Nigeria and what abroad?

I think giving birth is mostly for the average and poor Nigerians, who want a better life foe their kids?

When you are born in Nigeria, Life is already leading you 1-0 by default. That identity will always hunt you for the rest of your life. Even if you get citizenship later, your birth place on any foreign passport will still always be "NIGERIA"

Rich people don't take that chances!

The answer is simple, even you asking this question know the answer but seems like you want to ask just to make front page.

Answer is because of having a second passport, for them to be a citizen of a first world nation

During Buhari tenure, A chief of Air staff, Sadiq Abubakar who married the minister of humanitarian and disaster, Hadiza Sadiya farooq and she also traveled abroad to give birth to her baby.

Both where serving top government official at that time.

They don’t trust the healthcare in Nigeria. We have one of the the highest infant mortality in the world.

They also want their children to have dual citizenship. To get citizenship by investment you need about 300k usd in Caribbean countries. And about 1m usd in USA and the likes. So why not use birth route when it’s cheaper. 😆

Not because I've the answer, I'm just wondering that after all the money, what do people really needs to go and birth in another country for, when they can equally use the money to travel anytime they feel like, when there's any issue in Nigeria
