SoNature: Road projects alone are too numerous and not like some 7km road people celebrate. In two-three years, Hope built two federal roads; owerri-okigwe(51km) and owerri-orlu( 38km) The unrivalled achievements of Gov Hope Uzodimma in the areas of infrastructure development, recovery of illegally acquired property in Imo State, Renovation and equipping of abandoned 305 primary health care centers in the 305 electoral wards of Imo state, etc.~ Shantel Adanna Infrastructure: On assumption of office as the Governor of Imo State in 2020, Senator Uzodinma realized that an urgent and extensive infrastructural revolution was needed if he must achieve his vision of a modern and prosperous Imo State. The Challenge of Finding the money: Governor Uzodinma was also mindful of the fact that finding the resources to achieve this laudable vision at a time of dwindling allocation to the states would be an uphill task. Thus, he had to device an efficient mechanism for generating revenue. By the automation of the revenue generation process and the strict adherence to the Treasury Single Account (TSA), he was able to raise the monthly IGR to 5 billion naira. He followed this up with the allocation of about 75% of the annual budget to capital expenditure. This served as a clear indication of his seriousness towards transforming the state of infrastructure in the state. ~ Shantel Adanna ROAD INFRASTRCTUREcompleted) 1. Oparanozie Street 2. Broveens42: Thank you for the information, but I believe that governance is all-inclusive. Apart of roads, what significant projects has he built? How about housing? Education? Health? Attracting investors? Creating jobs? You rarely see on Nairaland news of projects being commissioned in Imo |

DrMuzungu:... Ok but that is nigeria politcians for you they must steal,.. because our institutions are weak..the EFCC, the court are weak... the politcians are stronger than the EFCC, courts, judiciary sector...so that is why they steal money anyhow and at the end of the day , nobody can arrest and jail them...so this is nigeria for you... 1 Like |

SoNature: Imo state is naturally attracted to investors for it's gas potentials(ANOH gas). It is a home to families of expatriates or foreign investors who work in the Niger Delta(they feel more secured in Owerri). The capital city is naturally known for hospitality industry, explains why world class hotels are being built, irrespective of the condition of entry roads and even as we speak. Visit government/model schools like owerri girls secondary school, government secondary school, Holy ghost college, etc you would think you are coming into a university from it's front gate with world class libraries. I visited my home town's Health center last year December, and I was impressed with the level of infrastructure and staffing. If Imo does the mediocrity show like other states, you would be receiving news about commissioning every day on nairaland . |
